The posting

Senior Veterinary Surgeon – Career Progression Opportunity

Location: Dublin (West)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time (part-time considered)

Salary: €60,000–€80,000 per annum (DOE)

The opportunity

An established independent small animal hospital in west Dublin is seeking an experienced Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join its clinical team. This role offers genuine career progression and leadership opportunities for the right candidate and would suit a vet who enjoys surgery, values autonomy, and is ready to take the next step in their professional journey.

The hospital has a diverse and stimulating caseload, primarily focused on dogs and cats, with a smaller exotic component. Experience with exotics is welcome but not essential, as the role is mainly focused on companion animals.

The practice operates with an independent ethos, where decisions are made quickly, initiative is encouraged, and every team members input is genuinely valued.

The ideal candidate

The practice is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who:

  • Has a strong foundation in soft tissue surgery and dentistry
  • Is confident with medical cases and has basic ultrasound skills
  • Enjoys leading by example and supporting team development
  • Is proactive, collaborative, and committed to high clinical standards
  • Is motivated to take ownership and help shape the future of the practice

This role would suit a vet with leadership potential who wants to remain hands-on clinically while progressing into a more senior position.

The role

  • Senior clinical position with a clear pathway to increased responsibility
  • Full-time role (flexible or part-time working patterns considered)
  • Opportunity to be involved in the development of a second site opening soon
  • Supportive environment with strong nursing and support teams

Whats on offer

  • Salary between €60,000 and €80,000, depending on experience
  • Unlimited CPD with genuine support for further qualifications
  • VCI fees fully paid
  • 20 days annual leave (or equivalent on a 4-day rota)
  • Birthday off
  • Paid charity day
  • Uniforms provided

The working environment

This is a friendly, supportive, and collaborative hospital where teamwork, kindness, and clinical excellence are prioritised. The location offers easy access by car and public transport, with free parking available and local amenities nearby, contributing to an excellent work–life balance.

Why apply

This is a rare opportunity to join a truly independent veterinary hospital that offers autonomy, progression, and a positive team culture. Ideal for a motivated Veterinary Surgeon who wants more than just a job and is ready to take the next step in their career.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
