At Thermo Fisher Scientific, your work has purpose. Join our Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) team in Grand Island, New York, where you'll help bring innovative cell culture media products from development into commercial manufacturing—supporting scientists and researchers around the world.

Whether your background is in chemical engineering, biotechnology, process development, or manufacturing, this opportunity offers the chance to grow your technical expertise, collaborate with experienced professionals, and make a meaningful impact on products used across the life sciences industry.

If you're looking for a role that combines hands-on problem-solving, scientific innovation, and opportunities for professional growth, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As a Product Development Engineer II, you'll play an important role in turning new product formulations into reliable, scalable manufacturing processes.

You'll work alongside colleagues in Research & Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to solve technical challenges, improve processes, and support successful product launches.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Bring new products to life: Support the development, scale-up, and commercial launch of cell culture media, supplements, and related biotechnology products.
  • Solve meaningful technical challenges: Apply scientific and engineering principles to troubleshoot manufacturing processes, investigate variability, and develop effective solutions.
  • Turn innovation into manufacturing success: Translate new product formulations into practical, repeatable, and scalable manufacturing processes.
  • Drive process improvements: Evaluate equipment, raw materials, manufacturing capabilities, and opportunities to improve product quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Gain hands-on technical experience: Participate in engineering studies, process trials, manufacturing readiness assessments, and technology transfers.
  • Build manufacturing solutions: Develop and maintain master batch records, manufacturing instructions, process specifications, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Collaborate across teams: Partner with R&D, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and technical experts to support new product introductions and successful launches.
  • Support continuous improvement: Help optimize existing products and processes through formulation updates, raw material changes, and manufacturing enhancements.
  • Expand your technical expertise: Contribute to projects across the product lifecycle while developing knowledge of biotechnology manufacturing, process development, and scale-up.

You'll have the opportunity to see how your contributions help move products from the laboratory into commercial production.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience in process engineering, product development, manufacturing sciences and technology (MSAT), R&D, or a related technical field.

  • Ability to organize and execute technical assignments while managing competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to technical documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues across technical and operational teams.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to learn new processes, technologies, and systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in any of the following areas would be valuable, but you do not need to have experience in every area to be considered:

  • Biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, chemical, or other process manufacturing environments.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
