ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Trader at Thndr, you will play a critical role in supporting our Saudi brokerage dealing-desk capability and ensuring reliable day-to-day trading activity on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul).

You will monitor automated order flow and trading activity, oversee the performance of trading systems, identify unusual activity, spikes, exceptions, or potential issues, and take appropriate action or escalate when required. You will work closely with Operations, Risk, Compliance, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure trading activity remains accurate, controlled, and compliant with applicable CMA requirements.

If you have hands-on trading experience in the Saudi market, strong knowledge of Tadawul and trading systems, and the ability to identify and respond to trading issues quickly and accurately, this role is for you.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Trading Monitoring & Oversight:

- Monitor automated client order flow and trading activity throughout the trading session.

- Oversee trading-system performance and identify unusual activity, spikes, anomalies, or potential issues.

- Monitor order status and identify rejected, delayed, or irregular orders.

- Investigate trading exceptions and determine the appropriate action or escalation.

- Escalate trading issues promptly to the relevant teams when intervention is required.

- Monitor market conditions and assess their potential impact on trading activity.

- Maintain accurate and auditable records of trading activity, exceptions, and incidents.

Regulatory & Risk Management:

- Ensure trading activity is conducted in line with applicable CMA regulations, market rules, and internal controls.

- Apply pre-trade controls and trading limits and monitor adherence to established trading parameters.

- Work closely with Risk and Compliance on trade surveillance and the identification and escalation of suspicious or unusual trading activity.

- Support the investigation and documentation of trading incidents, errors, and potential market-abuse concerns.

- Exercise sound judgement and maintain a high level of integrity when monitoring trading activity.

Trade Lifecycle & Operations:

- Maintain a strong understanding of the Saudi trading lifecycle, from order submission through clearing and settlement.

- Coordinate with Operations on trade confirmations, clearing, and settlement through Edaa and Muqassa.

- Communicate with relevant Tadawul teams when resolving trading, system, or operational issues.

- Support the resolution of trading exceptions and ensure issues are appropriately documented and followed through.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Work closely with Operations, Risk, Compliance, Product, and Engineering teams to investigate and resolve trading issues.

- Provide trading observations and market insights to the Head of Brokerage.

- Partner with Product and Engineering to identify system issues and improve automated order handling and monitoring.

- Contribute to improving trading controls, monitoring processes, and the overall client trading experience.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

- Hands-on Trader/Dealer experience at a CMA-licensed brokerage or Tadawul member firm.

- Strong practical knowledge of Tadawul trading systems, order types, and market activity.

- Strong understanding of the Saudi trading lifecycle, including order submission, clearing, and settlement.

- Experience monitoring trading activity, identifying exceptions or unusual patterns, and escalating issues appropriately.

- Meets the CMA qualification requirements for the function, including CME-3A and CME-3B, a qualifying previous-series certificate, or a CMA-granted exemption.

- Eligible for CMA Registered Person registration and able to meet the applicable KSA residency requirements.

- Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to remain calm and responsive under pressure.

NICE-TO-HAVE:

- Existing working relationships with relevant Tadawul teams.

- Experience with automated trading or electronic brokerage platforms.

- Experience with trade surveillance, transaction monitoring, or trading-system monitoring.

- Experience preparing trading reports or providing market insights.

- Experience working with Product or Engineering teams to improve trading systems, controls, or order handling.

- Previous experience in a fast-growing or technology-driven brokerage environment.

WHO ARE WE?

Thndr was founded on a bold dream to democratize access to investing through smart tech and human-centric design. This is simply our way of saying we give anyone with a smartphone the simple and easy access they need to preserve and grow their wealth. At the same time, we’re shaping the future of investing while actively driving the economies we serve by promoting local investment products.

History has shown that investing is the single greatest way to build long-term wealth, but before Thndr, only a very small percentage of people had access to it due to:

- High barriers to entry — In the form of excessive minimum account balances, complex, outdated onboarding, and low financial literacy.

- Irrelevant experience — Catered toward expert traders and financial specialists, therefore alienating the majority of the population.

- Fragmented offering — Investment products were not gathered in a single, intuitive outlet.

We don't just talk about change, we deliver it. Here's a glimpse into our impact so far:

- 5.5 million app downloads

- EGP 1B+ average daily traded value across 2025

- #1 digital investing platform in Egypt for the third consecutive year

- 76% of users are first-time investors

- 40% of our users come from outside of capital cities and have previously had limited access to financial institutions

At Thndr, we're looking for people driven by our mission to help us democratize investing across the MENA region.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
