The posting

Ready to take the next step in your legal career?

Join the team in Birmingham, Dagenham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield or Stoke where your analytical mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to helping others make a real difference. As a Personal Injury Pre-Litigation Assistant, you'll play a vital role in progressing accident claims across RTA, EL and PL matters, helping to build strong cases, support union members, and secure the best possible outcomes for clients following life-changing events.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys tackling complex problems, and is eager to develop specialist expertise in personal injury law while making a meaningful impact every day.

While not mandatory, we highly recommend including a cover letter or personal statement to demonstrate your enthusiasm for the opportunity and explain why you would like to build your career with Thompsons Solicitors.

If successfully shortlisted, you will be required to complete an online assessment, which will be sent to the email address you used to apply for this position. Subject to successful completion and selection, you must then be available to attend one of our offices on Thursday 5th November for a final stage interview. Salary is dependant on candidate location.

The role...

  • Investigating and gathering evidence to determine whether cases should proceed to litigation.
  • Preparing files for issue, including assessing merits, obtaining liability evidence, securing medical reports, and instructing experts.
  • Managing a high‑volume caseload with accuracy, organisation, and confidence.
  • Taking clear, detailed instructions from clients, witnesses, experts, and union partners.
  • Making informed decisions under supervision, using sound judgment and strong analytical skills.
  • Working efficiently within a KPI framework and recording time accurately.
  • Using a case management system to produce your own work and stay fully self‑sufficient.

Who we are looking for...

You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:

  • Strong client‑care skills and confidence communicating by phone or in person.
  • Knowledge of PI law, Pre‑Action Protocols, CPR, and funding (or the ability to learn quickly).
  • The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and manage a busy caseload.
  • Excellent drafting, numeracy, and written communication skills.

What we offer you...

  • Contributory pension scheme
  • 23 days annual leave (in addition to bank holidays)
  • Additional leave over Christmas
  • Permanent health insurance
  • Healthcare Cash Plan (MediCash)
  • Life assurance
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Organised sports and social club
  • Annual travel and parking loans
  • Financial assistance for professional development

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
