Job Title: Video Editor (eCommerce)

Contractor Fee: $2,000 - $2,500/month (USD)

Work Arrangement: Remote

Engagement Type: Independent Contractor

Commitment: Full-time (Approx. 40 hours/week)

Company Overview:

Tidal is a Direct Placement Agency that helps job seekers find job opportunities for real growth. We work with stable, responsible businesses that are experienced in remote hiring and are excited to welcome international team members. Tidal is owned and operated by consumer brand owners and operators. We have experience in offshore team-building and aim to help businesses leverage global talent.

About This Role: We are hiring a Video Editor for an eCommerce brand in the healthcare apparel industry. You will create 8–12 short-form videos per week for Meta using customer content, product footage, and AI-generated visuals, with strong opening hooks and engaging storytelling that entertain, inform, keep viewers watching, and drive sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create short-form video ads: Edit real customer content and product footage into engaging, well-paced videos for Meta, including organic-style, direct response, and user-generated content (UGC) formats.
  • Build strong hooks and maintain viewer attention: Make the first 1–3 seconds compelling, especially through AI-generated content. Use captions, text overlays, sound, transitions, and motion graphics to keep viewers engaged.
  • Produce complete AI videos: Create AI UGC and AI animation ads from start to finish, including writing prompts, generating content, choosing the best takes, and editing the final video.
  • Create realistic AI supporting footage: Generate b-roll, such as a nurse walking through a ward or a close-up of socks being pulled on, to fill gaps in edits. Match the lighting and tone of real footage and deliver usable clips within hours.
  • Deliver consistent, on-brand work: Complete 8–12 finished videos per week, follow creative briefs independently, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
  • Apply relevant video trends: Research TikTok, Reels, and the Meta Ad Library, and bring effective hooks and formats to the team while keeping up with platform requirements.

Software/Platforms/Tools:

  • CapCut and at least one professional video editor: Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro
  • AI video and image tools such as Kling, Veo, Higgsfield, Runway, Midjourney, Nano Banana, or similar
  • Meta, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and the Meta Ad Library for creative research
  • ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini for ideas, scripts, and captions; Canva or similar for quick graphics (nice to have)

Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of professional or freelance experience editing social video ads.
  • A strong portfolio of finished short-form videos for Reels, TikTok, Shorts, or paid social that shows effective hooks, storytelling, and viewer retention.
  • Hands-on experience creating finished ads using AI UGC, AI animation, and realistic AI b-roll. Your portfolio should include completed AI videos, beyond experiments, and supporting footage that blends naturally with real clips.
  • Strong editing skills, including pacing, cutting to the beat, sound design, and knowing when to hold a shot or move to the next one.
  • Proficiency in CapCut and at least one professional video editing platform.
  • Ability to work independently from a brief, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines consistently, and communicate clearly.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience using ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini to develop hooks, scripts, and captions, or creating original ad concepts from a brief.
  • Experience editing video sales letters (VSLs) or longer-form ads designed to drive purchases or other customer actions.
  • Understanding of direct-to-consumer (DTC) and eCommerce product storytelling.
  • Familiarity with Canva or similar tools for quick overlays and graphics.
  • Experience in creative strategy or media buying.

Shift Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, with flexible working hours.
  • Availability to overlap with Australian or US business hours for check-ins.
  • Exact working hours will be agreed upon directly between the contractor and the client.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
