The posting

The Global Regulatory Legal team leads the company's regulatory compliance, engagement, and response work across global markets, partnering with government relations, product, trust and safety, and business teams on digital platform laws, privacy and AI regulation, youth safety rules, competition laws, and government inquiries.

The work sits at the intersection of fast-moving global policy and deeply local legal and political realities. We align the company's position across major precedent-setting regulations while handling market-specific escalations, cross-border investigations, regulator requests, and emerging rules that can change how our products operate in a given country.

You will work directly on the regulatory issues defining the future of digital platforms, building the governance and response strategies that let our products grow responsibly while protecting the company's ability to operate in the markets it serves.

About the Team The Privacy Regulatory and Governance team is part of the European Digital Regulatory and Governance team. We are part of the Global Regulatory team that provides essential guidance to TikTok and its family of products, ensuring that our innovation is matched with compliance, responsibility, and foresight. We empower the business by navigating complex regulatory landscapes, shaping strategies that allow our teams to achieve their boldest ambitions while meeting evolving legal and policy expectations. The Regulatory team is responsible for managing global regulatory matters, including advising on new and existing frameworks, engaging with regulators, and ensuring proactive alignment with fast-changing laws across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities - Lead on strategy and execution of regulatory engagement and investigations regarding data protection matters. - Support broader digital regulatory matters relating to Digital Markets Act, Digital Services Act, AI Act and other new and upcoming digital regulations in the EU and UK, with a focus on intersections with GDPR. - Collaborating and communicating with internal and external partners regarding a wide range of regulatory privacy matters. - Support our privacy governance programme, policies and procedures for TikTok in Europe.

Minimum Qualifications - European or UK qualified lawyer with strong privacy, governance and regulatory experience, preferably with some in-house experience. - Experience engaging with regulators, including data protection regulators preferable. - Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential and an ability to draft documents, including legal submissions. - Highly organised, self motivated and capable of driving forward challenging projects. - Comfortable providing sound advice under tight deadlines and managing competing priorities. - Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate effectively with legal colleagues and other cross functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications - Subject matter expertise in topics such as: privacy and data protection, regulatory enforcement, age assurance and/or litigation. - Familiarity with core concepts of content risk & online safety, AI, competition are beneficial. - Ability to drive large cross-functional projects aimed at proactively bolstering GDPR compliance.
