Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting

About the Opportunity:
The Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting owns Townsquare’s external reporting and technical accounting and is a key member of the accounting leadership team.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the market operation with a particular focus on revenue generation across Townsquare’s multiple media and entertainment platforms.
- Create a vision and strategy for consistent revenue and profit growth, with the ability to communicate and execute the plan
- Support the content team (on air and on line) and hold them accountable to executing the brand strategy and delivering content excellence.
- Recruit, train & develop top sales talent
- Lead their sales team to exceed revenue targets by developing a sales strategy and holding the team accountable to hitting and exceeding their individual goals.
- Ensure the station’s license is in order and that Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and other federal, state and local rules and regulations are followed.
- Drive key account growth through the selling of results based, integrated programs while also pushing significant new business development.
- Prepare and manage the fiscal budget. Develop/implement strategic goals to exceed local advertising, live events and digital services budgets.
- Represent TSM to key client accounts and community; developing strong client relationships and community partnerships that further our business.

Education & Experience:
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred) and either at least three years of SEC reporting at a public registrant or equivalent experience auditing public companies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; active CPA license required.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules (Regulation S-X and S-K).
- Experience supervising and developing staff; month-end close experience strongly preferred.
- Strong written communication skills and the judgment to present to senior management and the Audit Committee.
Computer Skills:
- Advanced Excel required (Power Query, pivot tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, building and auditing complex models).
- Hands-on experience with Workiva or similar reporting software, including inline XBRL tagging, strongly preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and IBM Planning Analytics (TM1/Cognos), or comparable ERP and planning systems, preferred. Working knowledge of SQL a plus.
- Comfort using AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Claude) for research, drafting and automation, consistent with Company policy, a plus.
- Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Work @ Home Base Pay Range:
$150,000—$200,000 USD
Work @ Home Total Compensation Range:
$195,000—$275,000 USD
