Who we’re looking for
Toyota Financial Savings Bank’s Compliance Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Regulatory Compliance Manager.
The primary responsibility of this role is to safeguard the integrity of our operations by identifying, mitigating, and managing regulatory, reputational, and operational risks in a timely manner.
Reporting to the Toyota Financial Savings Bank Senior Manager, Regulatory Compliance, the person in this role will support the Compliance Department’s objective to maintain a robust Compliance Management System (CMS) that ensures our bank remains a trusted entity within a highly regulated financial services landscape.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will be at the forefront of our risk management strategy, ensuring that our business operations align with the highest standards of state and federal regulatory requirements. Success in this position means you are a proactive problem-solver who can translate complex legal requirements into actionable business solutions while fostering a culture of compliance across the organization.
- Lead strategic compliance efforts by providing expert oversight of regulatory expectations and emerging risks that impact the Bank’s CAMELS ratings and key consumer protection regulations (Reg Z, Reb B, UDAAP, etc.) and State law requirements.
- Partner closely with Legal, Internal Audit, and Enterprise Risk teams to solve complex issues and reduce risks that affect the Bank’s regulatory, financial, reputational, operational health, and legal risks and work collaboratively to deliver expertise to mitigate risks.
- Support Bank’s management of State and Federal regulatory examinations including coordination of corrective action required from regulators.
- Lead team with creating/updating Corporate Compliance Policies, supporting Standards, and Procedures required to be used by business units to ensure all operational functions meet state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Develop and present regular reports to Senior Management, the Enterprise Risk Committee, and the Management Committee addressing the Bank’s risk profile, regulatory trends, and compliance with Safety and Soundness expectations. Reports will also be used by the CCO for Board of Directors updates.
- Mentor and develop Compliance Senior Analysts, strengthening team capability and building future compliance leaders.
- Lead the Bank management of customer complaints and address regulatory, legal, and operational risks. Oversee completion of root cause analysis, trend identification, risk escalation and corrective action.
- Lead and provide strategic direction to team for establishing framework to evaluate, execute and validate implementation of regulatory changes initiated by State and Federal legislative action.
What you bring
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, compliance, risk management, or a business-related field.
- 10+ years of regulatory compliance experience within large banks and financial services with advanced knowledge of federal and state banking laws and regulations, including but not limited to Fair Lending, TILA-RESPA, UDAAP, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Bank Secrecy Act, and the USA PATRIOT Act.
- Knowledge of commercial lending, consumer lending, CMS, and CAMELS.
- Demonstrated presentation skills in both creating and delivering.
- Direct knowledge of Mortgage and Auto Lending regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and demonstrated experience managing and executing compliance program activities, including complaints and corrective action plans; regulatory intelligence and change management; policy and procedure development and updates; compliance risk assessments; marketing and advertising reviews; transaction and compliance testing plans; work paper preparation and review; and compilation and writing of compliance review reports.
- Previous management/Leadership experience and working in a matrixed organization is required.
- Ability to be an independent thinker and make sound decisions.
- Ability to handle confidential, delicate, and/or sensitive information or situations.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Ability to proactively manage deadlines, be organized, detail-oriented, and complete responsibilities with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask on competing priorities, work independently, and efficiently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail with a low margin of error.
- Must have a high degree of analytical skills, customer service, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to seek out and offer business-oriented solutions to complex compliance challenges.
- Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Added bonus if you have
- An MBA or an advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Compliance certifications such as CRCM, CCEP, or other related certifications.
- Progressive responsibility involving state and federal examinations.
- Track record of communicating and interacting with state and federal regulators during bank examinations, with a verifiable track record of interacting successfully with the FDIC, OCC, FRB, and CFPB.
- Experience with WolfPAC, Tableau, JIRA, AuditBoard, and Archer.
