The posting

The Sr. Manager, FP&A Business Partner will serve as the strategic finance partner to Trading Technologies’ Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Service Management leadership. This role will own financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis for these organizations, connect service delivery costs to service revenue, and lead contribution margin reporting by line of business, giving leadership a clear view of where TT creates value and where to invest. The ideal candidate combines strong financial modeling skills with the business judgment and communication skills to influence technical, product, and service leaders. This is a senior individual contributor role that reports to the VP Finance & Accounting and partners closely with Product, Engineering, Service Management, Operations, and Accounting teams, as well as PE stakeholders and the Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary finance business partner to Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Service Management leadership, providing financial insight that guides product strategy, roadmap prioritization, and investment decisions
  • Own the Product & Engineering budget, rolling forecasts, and monthly variance analyses, including headcount, contractor, cloud/hosting, and third-party software spend
  • Partner with the Service Management team to connect service delivery costs (support, implementation, hosting operations, managed services) to service revenue, building visibility into service margins and cost-to-serve
  • Build and maintain contribution margin reporting by line of business, including revenue, direct costs, and allocation methodologies that are clear, consistent, and auditable
  • Develop business cases and ROI analyses for new product initiatives, build-vs-buy decisions, and capacity investments; track realized returns against plan
  • Partner with Engineering leadership on R&D capitalization, cost allocation, and resource planning to ensure spend aligns with strategic priorities
  • Analyze unit economics and gross margin drivers (hosting, infrastructure, data, support costs) and recommend actions to improve profitability
  • Contribute to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and long-range plan by delivering Product & Engineering and line-of-business inputs, scenarios, and sensitivities
  • Prepare clear, concise materials for executive, investor, and Board reporting that translate product and cost performance into strategic narratives
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve data quality across planning, ERP, and BI tools

What does success look like?

The Sr. Manager, FP&A Business Partner will be successful in this role when they can start executing the following strategic tasks/responsibilities after their first 100 days with the company:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Trading Technologies’ product portfolio, lines of business, engineering and service organizations, and key cost drivers
  • Take ownership of the Product & Engineering budget, forecast, and monthly variance review process
  • Establish a trusted partnership with Product, Engineering, and Service Management leaders as their go-to finance advisor
  • Deliver a contribution margin by line of business framework, with agreed allocation methodology and recurring reporting
  • Map service delivery costs to service revenue streams and establish baseline service margin reporting
  • Identify initial opportunities to optimize R&D and infrastructure spend and improve the accuracy of product- and service-related forecasts

Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field (MBA or CFA preferred)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or business partnering roles, with direct support of Product and/or Engineering organizations
  • Experience in PE-backed or high-growth SaaS/software environments strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience building line-of-business or product-level P&Ls and contribution margin analyses, including cost allocation methodologies
  • Strong understanding of R&D cost structures, software capitalization, cloud/hosting economics, and SaaS metrics (ARR, gross margin, Rule of 40, etc.)
  • Experience analyzing service delivery economics, cost-to-serve, and professional/managed services margins
  • Proven ability to influence senior technical and product leaders and explain the “what” and “why” behind the numbers
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, including business cases, scenario analysis, and driver-based forecasts
  • Expertise in planning and forecasting tools (e.g., Abacum, Adaptive, Planful), ERP systems (NetSuite), and BI platforms (Domo, Tableau, Power BI); advanced Excel
  • Self-starter comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor with high ownership and limited oversight
  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
