The Trafigura Group owns global multi-metals producer Nyrstar; fuel storage and distribution company Puma Energy; and joint ventures Impala Terminals, a port and logistics provider, and Nala Renewables, investing in wind, solar and battery storage projects.

Main Purpose:

You will schedule Trafigura's US clean products pipeline movements from our Calgary office and support the trader by coordinating all aspects of post-deal activity, ensuring contract execution runs smoothly. You will provide the trader with commercial and market information as needed, and work closely with Trade Finance, Settlements, terminal personnel and counterparties to keep every cycle accurate, on time and in line with contract terms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute daily operational activities, scheduling pipeline movements using proprietary and third-party scheduling systems and ensuring data is captured accurately and on time.

• Submit nominations and manage line space and allocations with pipeline operators in line with each cycle's deadlines.

• Ensure batches, book-outs, purchases, sales, line space deals and exchange contracts are fulfilled according to contract terms.

• Manage apportionment, product interface and transmix issues in coordination with pipeline operators, terminals and the trader.

• Monitor, reconcile and validate gains/losses and tariffs across each pipeline cycle, following proper settlement procedures.

• Confirm monthly inventory positions for all gasoline and distillate grades, model volumes correctly in the system of record, and support month-end close and inventory reconciliation.

• Validate each cycle's positions and report them to the trader daily.

• Work with Trade Finance, providing accurate and timely data for letters of credit (L/Cs), P/Us, pre-payments and similar instruments.

• Support Settlements with timely invoicing and payment, and monitor accounts receivable where applicable.

• Coordinate with terminal personnel on product off-lines, delivery plans, and sampling and testing of receiving tanks.

• Keep Trafigura's in-house inventory and scheduling system current, keeping exceptions to a minimum.

• Track and advise the deals desk of all costs on each transaction (P&L awareness).

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with contractual scheduling counterparts and third-party service providers.

• Follow internal procedures and company policies, including the Code of Conduct, HSEC Policy and Business Principles, and identify and escalate operational issues to the Regional Head of Operations, Canada, as appropriate.

Required qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience scheduling or operating liquid petroleum pipelines (crude, NGL or refined products), with the ability to quickly learn US clean product systems.

• Strong grasp of common pipeline operations and terminology, with the ability to run pipeline commercial operations under minimal supervision.

• Ability to interpret the operational requirements of each contract, and to review and comment on them when asked, with a basic understanding of the legal framework behind oil pipeline contracts.

• Basic understanding of petroleum product specifications.

• Good understanding of financial instruments, their uses and their importance.

• Strong Excel skills and experience with ETRM or scheduling and inventory systems.

• Flexibility to work to pipeline cycle and nomination deadlines, including US time-zone hours and occasional weekend or on-call coverage as required.

Preferred qualifications

• Degree in business, finance, supply chain, engineering or a related field.

• Direct experience on Colonial, Explorer, Buckeye, Laurel, Magellan, TEPPCO or other clean product pipelines.

• Experience scheduling origin and destination barrels on the Colonial Pipeline for A/D/M/V/F/H gasoline to present grades, as well as 54/62/67/77 distillate grades.

• Knowledge and experience of using Transport 4.

• Experience with NYMEX futures obligations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
