  • Analyze structural projects by reviewing plan sets, geotechnical reports, attending pre-bid meetings, and conducting site visits.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculations using OST, Planswift, Excel, and Bluebeam.
  • Review historical data and compile reports to develop guidelines and precedents for estimates.
  • Incorporate historical data into unit and man-hour figures within HCSS Heavy Bid.
  • Develop bid package estimate documents and maintain accurate backup files for estimating figures.
  • Create and manage subcontractor requests for proposals.
  • Review design options and recommend the best solutions based on cost, quality, or material availability.
  • Follow awarded contracts, including estimating extra work items, change orders, and procuring materials.
  • Conduct and lead comprehensive bid reviews with the Chief Estimator and Management Team before bid day.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of operational experience on structures-related projects, including bridges, retaining walls, cast-in-place and precast structures, and box culverts.
  • Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience on structures-related projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using HCSS Heavy Bid, OST, Excel, and Bluebeam.
  • Strong technical knowledge of structural scopes, specifications, heavy civil construction, civil engineering principles, and construction methods.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, subcontractors, and material suppliers.
  • Deep understanding of structures production, crew assembly, equipment allocation, work sequence, and scheduling.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
