Position Summary

The Executive Director, Field Operations Strategy & Excellence provides enterprise leadership for the design, deployment, and performance of Travere’s customer-facing commercial field organization. The role establishes the field model needed to support FILSPARI, pegtibatinase planning, and future portfolio growth while ensuring that field investments translate into measurable business and patient impact.

This leader owns field force strategy, structure and sizing, targeting, territory design, field performance analytics and reporting, incentive compensation strategy, sales force effectiveness initiatives, and launch deployment planning. The Executive Director partners closely with Sales, Marketing, Omnichannel, Market Access, Patient Services, Forecasting, Commercial Analytics, Commercial Systems, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and Compliance.

Responsibilities:

Enterprise field strategy and deployment

  • Develop and maintain a multi-year field strategy aligned to the commercial portfolio, brand priorities, customer needs, and expected launch sequence.
  • Oversee field force sizing, role design, structure, coverage, territory alignment, and targeting across Sales, Access and Reimbursement Managers, Strategic Account Managers, Rare Kidney Disease Educators, Thought Leader Liaisons, and other customer-facing teams.
  • Build deployment scenarios for pegtibatinase and future assets, including capability requirements, timing, resource implications, and organizational tradeoffs.
  • Evaluate field investments and recommend changes to capacity, roles, territories, and customer coverage as business conditions evolve.

Field performance and analytics

  • Set the field performance measurement framework, including leading indicators, outcome measures, management reports, and executive-level performance reviews.
  • Lead the integration of field analytics, patient and access analytics, and business context so that insights identify specific actions, owners, and expected outcomes.
  • Partner with Commercial Analytics to align analytical methods, common definitions, measurement standards, and advanced analytics use cases.
  • Ensure field dashboards and recurring reports answer priority business questions and reduce low-value reporting activity.

Incentive compensation strategy and governance

  • Establish incentive compensation principles and provide strategic direction for plan design, goal setting, measurement, contests, awards, and plan evaluation.
  • Provide senior oversight of the annual incentive compensation process
  • Chair or support incentive compensation governance and ensure plans align with business strategy, financial objectives, employee motivation, data quality, and applicable policies.
  • Partner with Sales leadership, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and Compliance on plan recommendations and material changes.

Field operations and launch readiness

  • Provide strategic oversight of field operations, including alignment implementation, roster management, operational readiness, and process governance.
  • Establish scalable operating standards that support additional indications, field roles, and future commercial assets without unnecessary complexity.
  • Ensure field teams have clear roles, decision rights, data, tools, and operating processes before launches or major deployment changes.
  • Identify operational risks early and coordinate cross-functional resolution of issues that could affect field execution or customer experience.

Leadership and partnership

  • Lead and develop a team spanning field operations, incentive compensation, field analytics, and patient and access analytics.
  • Coach functional leaders to strengthen strategic thinking, analytical interpretation, executive communication, and succession readiness.
  • Serve as the senior Commercial Insights and Operations partner to Sales and other field leadership teams.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to coordinate and integrate broader commercial initiatives to align with the field-focused strategy and tools.
  • Present recommendations, performance insights, investment cases, and organizational tradeoffs to senior commercial and executive stakeholders.
  • Manage external partners and budgets, using internal and external capacity deliberately based on business need and required expertise.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business, analytics, life sciences, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology commercial operations, field strategy, field force effectiveness, analytics, or a closely related function.
  • Demonstrated leadership of field force sizing, structure, alignment, targeting, call planning, performance measurement, or incentive compensation strategy.
  • Experience leading teams and influencing senior stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, and technology functions.

Additional Skills/Experience/Requirements:

  • Experience supporting product launches and adapting field models as a company or portfolio grows. Rare disease, specialty, or nephrology experience is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of pharmaceutical commercial data, including CRM, claims, specialty pharmacy, hub or patient services, payer and access, and field activity data.
  • Ability to translate complex analysis into clear business implications, decisions, and actions for executive and field audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to travel as business needs require.
  • The ability to perform face to face work with customers, colleagues and/or onsite in San Diego. No role is 100% remote.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
