Job Description:

Position Summary

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall presentation of the community’s interior and exterior common areas. This position plays an important role in creating a clean, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for residents, prospects, guests, and team members.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, professional, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness. The Housekeeper must be able to work independently, prioritize daily responsibilities, and respond to the changing needs of a busy multifamily community.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain all assigned common areas, including:Lobbies and entrywaysHallways and corridorsElevators and elevator lobbiesClubrooms and resident loungesFitness centersRestroomsLeasing office and model unitsPool and amenity areasStairwellsMail/package areasOther assigned community spaces
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, sanitize, and polish surfaces as needed.
  • Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, fixtures, and other visible surfaces.
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper disposal.
  • Maintain cleanliness of high-traffic areas throughout the day.
  • Clean and prepare vacant apartment homes for move-in, including touch-up cleaning as assigned.
  • Assist with apartment turnover cleaning and ensure homes meet established property standards prior to move-in.
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, and cleaning materials in an organized and secure manner.
  • Report damaged, broken, or unsafe conditions to management or maintenance immediately.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues, leaks, lighting concerns, plumbing issues, or other property conditions observed during daily cleaning.
  • Follow established cleaning schedules, checklists, and property standards.
  • Assist with deep-cleaning projects, special events, resident events, and property inspections as needed.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and courteous demeanor when interacting with residents, prospects, vendors, and team members.
  • Protect resident privacy and maintain confidentiality while working in and around occupied apartment homes.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and proper handling and storage procedures for cleaning chemicals.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Customer Service Expectations

The Housekeeper is a visible representative of the property and is expected to:

  • Maintain a friendly, professional, and approachable demeanor.
  • Acknowledge residents and guests when encountered throughout the community.
  • Respond courteously to resident questions and direct requests to the appropriate team member when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance at all times.
  • Demonstrate pride of ownership and treat the community as if it were their own.

Qualifications

  • Previous housekeeping, janitorial, hospitality, hotel, or multifamily experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Dependable and punctual with a strong attendance record.
  • Ability to interact professionally with residents, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to safely use common cleaning equipment and chemicals.

Physical Requirements

The position requires frequent physical activity, including:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs.
  • Lifting and carrying cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Pushing and pulling cleaning carts and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 25–50 pounds, as required by the position.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying temperatures and conditions.

Success in this position will be measured by:

  • Consistent cleanliness and presentation of assigned areas.
  • Completion of daily cleaning assignments and schedules.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to property standards.
  • Timely reporting of maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Professional interaction with residents, guests, and team members.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Proper use and care of company equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to maintain high standards during apartment turnovers and property inspections.
