The posting

Triumph builds real-money skill gaming and digital collectibles experiences that reach a large and growing consumer audience. We operate where gaming, consumer protection, intellectual property, and payments meet, and we take our legal and regulatory obligations seriously. Our legal team is small, hands-on, and closely involved in how the business runs.

The Role We’re hiring our first dedicated Litigation Counsel to manage Triumph’s IP litigation and consumer dispute dockets. You’ll manage intellectual property litigation alongside outside counsel, handle consumer arbitration matters directly, and work with teams across the company to reduce disputes before they start. This role suits a litigator who wants real ownership, moves quickly, and is comfortable using technology to do more with a lean team.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage IP litigation with outside counsel. Oversee trademark, copyright, and other IP matters, including strategy, budgets, staffing, and key filings. Hold outside counsel accountable for results and cost.
  • Draft and file litigation documents. Prepare complaints, demand letters, cease-and-desist letters, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements. Initiate actions when needed to protect Triumph’s brands and IP.
  • Respond to arbitration and pre-arbitration demands. Evaluate and respond to individual and coordinated consumer claims, including notices of dispute and informal resolution processes under our Terms of Service. Manage arbitration provider proceedings and work to resolve claims efficiently.
  • Improve processes with stakeholders. Partner with Product, Customer Support, Marketing, Finance, and Trust & Safety to find dispute trends, improve intake and escalation workflows, strengthen consumer-facing terms and disclosures, and lower litigation risk.
  • Advise the business. Give practical risk assessments on litigation exposure, IP enforcement, and dispute strategy to the General Counsel, senior legal team, and leadership.
  • Build legal infrastructure. Create and maintain matter tracking, litigation hold procedures, document templates, and reporting on docket status and spend.

Qualifications

  • J.D. and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar. California bar required.
  • At least 4 years of litigation experience at a law firm, in-house, or both.
  • Substantive experience in intellectual property litigation, especially trademark matters such as infringement, dilution, counterfeiting, and opposition or cancellation proceedings.
  • Strong skills in software and software platforms – we are a consumer technology company, and your work will revolve around our software and its systems. You learn new systems quickly and look for ways to automate repetitive work.
  • Excellent writing skills, including persuasive drafting and plain-English communication with non-lawyers.
  • Sound judgment, with the ability to balance legal risk against business goals and make decisions quickly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with consumer arbitration, mass arbitration defense, or AAA/JAMS consumer rules.
  • Familiarity with gaming, sweepstakes, consumer protection, or fintech regulatory matters.
  • Experience with online brand enforcement, such as platform takedowns and domain disputes.
  • In-house experience at a high-growth technology company.

Why Triumph

  • High ownership and visibility on a small legal team.
  • Competitive salary, equity, and benefits.
  • A chance to build the litigation function from the ground up.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
