About Ubiquiti

At Ubiquiti Inc., we create technology platforms for Businesses, Smart Homes, and Internet Service Providers, driven by our goal to connect everyone, everywhere. To date, Ubiquiti has shipped over 100 million devices worldwide, from ISP networking products to next generation of IT solutions. Our growth is made possible by the dedicated team of hundreds behind the scenes. From software developers and product managers to designers and strategists, Team UI is driven to achieve our common goal: Rethinking IT. At Ubiquiti, you’ll heighten your potential and broaden your horizons - all while shaping the future of connectivity.

Responsibilities

Protocol & Feature Validation

  • Manually validate core L2/L3 switching features: VLANs, STP/RSTP, LACP/port-channels, LLDP, IGMP/MLD snooping, QoS, ACLs, static/dynamic routing
  • Validate PoE behavior (PoE/PoE+/PoE++) across port classes, power budgets, and mixed-load scenarios
  • Test switch management interfaces — CLI, SSH, SNMP, REST API, and UniFi Network application/controller integration
  • Perform interoperability testing across multi-vendor topologies and mixed firmware versions
  • Validate clustering, redundancy, and failover behavior under various failure conditions

Firmware & System Testing

  • Perform long-duration soak/stability testing to catch memory leaks, port flaps, and firmware degradation over time
  • Test system behavior under scale conditions (high MAC/ARP table size, VLAN scale, heavy traffic load)
  • Validate authentication, authorization, and access control (802.1X, RADIUS, management access)

Debugging & Root Cause Analysis

  • Debug using switch logs, CLI diagnostics, packet captures, and port/interface statistics
  • Distinguish true firmware/protocol regressions from environment or test setup issues
  • Reproduce field-reported issues and validate that fixes fully resolve reported behavior

Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Partner cross-functionally with firmware engineers and PMs to shape quality bars and go/no-go release decisions
  • Document bugs clearly with reproducible steps, supporting logs, and impact assessment
  • Continuously improve test plans, protocol coverage, and QA processes with AI-assisted workflows

Qualifications

Protocol & Networking Knowledge

  • Deep, hands-on understanding of L2/L3 protocols: VLANs, STP/RSTP, LACP, LLDP, IGMP/MLD, QoS, ACLs, static/dynamic routing
  • Solid grasp of PoE standards and power negotiation behavior
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals: DHCP, DNS, NAT, VPN

Process & Mindset

  • Solid grasp of software testing methodologies, issue reporting, and test case management
  • Strong ownership mindset — able to independently build out test coverage for new features from spec
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple testing tasks in parallel
  • Passion for quality, networking, and continuous learning in a fast-evolving environment
  • Comfortable using AI to speed up log/capture analysis and the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated output for accuracy before applying it to test work

Preferred

  • CCNA or equivalent networking certification
  • RTOS-based switch testing experience
  • Familiarity with traffic generation tools (iPerf, Ixia, Spirent, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Datacenter testing
  • Hands-on experience testing ProAV-over-IP technologies such as Dante, ST 2110, NDI, or SDVoE
  • Contributions to internal test frameworks, tooling, or test documentation improvements
