The posting

Office of Undergraduate Studies:

The Office of Undergraduate Studies provides services so that every UCF student has opportunities and educational experiences that prepare them to thrive academically and professionally. Our office delivers on this promise by offering innovative academic programs, serving as a hub for high-impact practices, providing undergraduate research opportunities, and developing campus wide academic policies.

The Opportunity:

UCF’s Office of Undergraduate Studies is seeking an experienced Applications Programmer II to maintain, enhance, and expand UCF Success Pathways and related career-pathway technologies. The programmer will develop secure, responsive web applications; create and maintain RESTful APIs and web services; automate data integrations; and support Microsoft SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, and application connections. The technology environment includes C#/.NET MVC, PHP, WordPress, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a defined, high-impact technology project. The successful candidate will bring strong C#/.NET MVC experience and the versatility to work across multiple systems, programming languages, applications, and data sources. The role is well suited for a developer who enjoys understanding how existing systems work, improving reliability and performance, modernizing applications thoughtfully, and building solutions that are secure, maintainable, and sustainable. You will collaborate with program and technology partners to gather requirements, resolve technical challenges, and deliver enhancements that support students’ academic and career planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance web-based applications supporting UCF Success Pathways and related programs. Develop responsive, accessible functionality using technologies such as C#/.NET MVC, PHP, WordPress, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS, while maintaining reusable, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and web services that integrate applications with internal and external systems. Develop and automate integrations for degree-to-career information, labor market data, UCF catalog career pathways, Pegasus Launch Program resources, and other data sources, including processes for ongoing data updates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, API, integration, and website issues. Perform testing, debugging, deployment, and maintenance of application updates while applying secure coding practices and ensuring application security, reliability, compatibility, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, and application database integrations. Monitor and improve data processing, application performance, reliability, and integrity to support web applications and automated integrations.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the Pegasus Launch team and the Office of Undergraduate Studies to identify needs, gather requirements, align priorities, and support the development and enhancement of applications, integrations, and related technology solutions.
  • Evaluate existing applications and technologies to identify opportunities for enhancements, modernization, automation, performance improvements, and long-term sustainability. Research, plan, and test new technologies and development approaches that support evolving program and organizational needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience developing web applications using C# and .NET MVC
  • Proven development experience with PHP, WordPress, JavaScript, and jQuery
  • Experience developing and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, and application integrations
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing, securing, and improving production web applications
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical partners, manage development assignments independently, and create maintainable, well-documented solutions

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
