Job Description

UL Solutions’ Energy & Industrial Automation (E&IA) division supports some of the world’s most innovative manufacturers in bringing safe, reliable and compliant products to global markets. Our engineers work across technologies shaping the future of industry, including industrial automation, energy systems, power conversion, motor drives, robotics and intelligent industrial devices.

As a Certification Project Engineer – Switching Devices in our Neu-Isenburg team (hybrid working model), you will focus on the evaluation and certification of switching device elements, such as contactors, relays, power supplies and proximity switches.

Working directly with leading manufacturers, you will combine electrical engineering, product testing, project management and customer interaction to assess products against internationally recognized standards and support their access to global markets.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

• Manage certification projects from initial technical review through testing and final certification. • Evaluate electrical and electronic products against relevant UL, IEC and EN standards, including UL/IEC/EN 61010-2-201 and the IEC/EN 60947 series. • Define testing requirements and coordinate testing activities with customers, laboratories and technical experts. • Review product designs and technical documentation and identify potential compliance issues. • Witness and evaluate electrical, mechanical, environmental and safety tests. • Act as the main technical contact for customers, providing clear guidance on requirements, project progress and certification outcomes. • Prepare technical reports and certification documentation. • Support sales colleagues with technical enquiries and project quotations. • Occasionally visit customer sites and test facilities across Europe.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

Required:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related technical field. • Good understanding of electrical/electronic products, industrial automation, control systems, drives or power electronics. • Knowledge of or exposure to UL/IEC/EN 61010-2-201 and/or the UL/IEC/EN 60947 series. • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills. • Confident communicator who enjoys working directly with customers. • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. • Fluent English. • Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.

Nice to have:

• 2+ years of experience in testing, certification, compliance, product development or electrical engineering. • Experience in laboratory testing or product evaluation. • Knowledge of CE marking, conformity assessment or international product safety standards. • Previous experience working with customers in a technical environment. • Dutch language skills are an advantage but not required.

Recent graduates are welcome!

Starting your engineering career? We also welcome applications from recent Electrical or Electronics Engineering graduates interested in developing specialist expertise in product safety, testing and certification. You’ll receive training and mentoring to help you grow into the role.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
