The Opportunity:

Help support world-class teaching and research through an effective, safe and customer-focused stores service.

At the University of Edinburgh, our professional services teams play a vital role in supporting our academic and research community.

We are looking for a Stores Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of a University stores facility based at the Institute for Genetics and Cancer (IGC) campus (Western General) as part of our Stores Operations service. This is a full time campus-based operational role.

You will manage a small team of up to two Stores Officers, ensuring that researchers, students and colleagues have timely access to the goods and materials they need. You will oversee stock control and replenishment, maintain accurate records in our eProcurement and inventory systems, and promote safe handling, storage and disposal of materials.

You will also coordinate goods receipt, courier and shipping services, work closely with suppliers and University colleagues, and identify practical ways to improve customer service, stock availability and operational efficiency.

We are looking for someone with relevant stores, inventory or materials management experience, the ability to lead and develop a small team, and a strong customer focus. You should be confident using stock management systems, resolving operational issues and applying appropriate health and safety procedures. Experience with eProcurement systems is important; relevant professional qualifications and domestic or international shipping experience would be advantageous.

If you enjoy combining hands-on operational leadership with problem-solving and service improvement, we would welcome your application.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
