The posting

Unusual Machines is a U.S.-based drone and drone parts company focused on the small and First-Person View (FPV) segments of the drone market. Our brands - Rotor Riot, Fat Shark, Rotor Lab and - coming soon - Upgrade Energy - are some of the most respected names in FPV and have helped shape the industry through e-commerce, product development, and a deep connection with the pilot community.

We’re expanding into enterprise and defense - bringing our obsessive attention to performance, design, and U.S.-based manufacturing into high-stakes environments like search and rescue and military innovation. With several of our products already approved by the Defense Innovation Unit, we’re solving procurement issues for customers who demand speed, agility, and compliance.

If you love working at the intersection of community, content, and cutting-edge technology, you’ll feel right at home here.

About You

You take pride in building things the right way. You enjoy hands-on work, pay close attention to detail, and understand that quality matters.

Whether you have previous assembly experience or are looking to build new technical skills, you're ready to learn, ask questions, and work with a team that takes pride in what they build.

At Unusual Machines, you'll help build the battery packs that power our drone technology. Our products support real-world applications across commercial, government, and defense markets, where quality, reliability, and performance matter.

A Day in the Life

Your day may include:

  • Assembling battery packs used in drone systems
  • Operating testing equipment and verifying product performance
  • Reading and following work instructions and build documentation
  • Preparing materials and components for assembly
  • Performing quality checks throughout the build process
  • Working with teammates to keep production moving
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace
  • Identifying opportunities to improve quality and efficiency

Success in this role comes from being detail-oriented, following instructions, and taking pride in building quality products every day.

What You'll Do

  • Read and accurately follow work instructions and build documentation for different battery pack configurations
  • Assemble battery packs according to established quality and safety standards
  • Perform welding and soldering operations
  • Apply heat shrink materials and prepare battery pack components
  • Cut foam and heat shrink materials according to part numbers and work instructions
  • Operate battery testing equipment and follow testing procedures based on battery configuration
  • Keep track of materials, components, and equipment to support an efficient production process
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Work closely with teammates and supervisors to identify and resolve production issues
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to help make our processes better

What You'll Bring

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to recognize patterns and identify inconsistencies
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions in English
  • Willingness to learn new skills and hands-on assembly techniques
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy
  • Ability to sit for extended periods when required
  • Positive attitude and team-first mindset
  • Willingness to ask questions and speak up when something doesn't look right

Previous assembly or manufacturing experience is a plus, but it's not everything. We're looking for people who are eager to learn, take pride in their work, and want to be part of a team building something meaningful.

What You'll Gain

Hands-On Technical Experience

Build your skills while working with:

  • Battery technology and components
  • Assembly, welding, and soldering processes
  • Battery testing equipment
  • Manufacturing and quality procedures
  • Safety standards and documented work instructions

Work That Makes an Impact

At Unusual Machines, we're building drone technology right here in the U.S. Through our brands, including Rotor Riot and Fat Shark, we're helping advance the FPV drone industry.

The work you do matters. You'll help build the components that power our products and support real-world drone applications across commercial, government, and defense markets.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
