Location: Remote, Anywhere NZ

Full-time | Permanent | Remote

Please note: This is a New Zealand based fully remote permanent role, open to candidates from anywhere in the country.

About the role | Mō tēnei tūranga

We are seeking an enthusiastic, learner-centred Online Tutor to deliver Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI), a 16-week programme leading to the New Zealand Certificate in Study and Employment Pathways (Level 4), within our online campus.

The programme helps ākonga develop study and employment readiness while building foundational knowledge of AI, machine learning and data. It offers a practical, ethical and culturally grounded starting point for learners who are curious about AI, with pathways into further study in IT and software engineering.

You will facilitate learning in a primarily asynchronous online environment, making emerging AI concepts accessible to learners who may be new to technology, study or coding.

Key responsibilities

  • Facilitate online learning using the learning management system (LMS) and digital communication tools.
  • Support learners to explore, compare and critically evaluate generative AI tools, information and outputs, and communicate well-reasoned arguments.
  • Provide clear, timely and constructive feedback on assessments.
  • Monitor learner engagement and proactively support those who need additional guidance.
  • Help learners reflect on their strengths and plan their next study or employment pathway.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and contribute to continuous improvement of online delivery.
  • About the programme
  • You will support learners across four courses:
  • Introduction to AI – benefits, limitations and applications of AI, generative AI tools, ethics and culture.
  • Foundation of Machine Learning – supervised and unsupervised learning, automation, intelligent systems, introductory Python and teamwork.
  • Data Essentials for AI – structured and unstructured data, data preparation and cleaning, spreadsheets, basic databases and data visualisation.
  • Personal and Professional Pathways – goal setting, transferable skills, cultural models of wellbeing, CVs, interviews and the New Zealand job market.

Qualifications

About you | Mōhou ake

You are a technology professional with industry experience in AI, data, software or a related field. You can translate evolving AI capabilities into practical learning experiences and help diverse ākonga use these tools critically, responsibly and confidently.

Skills and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in a relevant field.
  • Professional experience in AI, data, software development, IT or a related technology field.
  • Practical experience with generative AI tools, introductory Python and working with data.
  • The ability to explain AI and machine learning concepts clearly to learners new to technology.
  • Strong written communication skills and confidence engaging learners online.
  • Teaching, tutoring, mentoring or learner support experience is preferred; experience in online or blended learning is an advantage.
  • A culturally responsive and inclusive approach aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi, supporting Māori, Pacific and diverse learner communities.
  • A commitment to ethical, responsible and human-centred use of AI.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
