At Valius, we believe that the future of cancer care will be defined by “maximalist” diagnostics: deep, comprehensive assessments of DNA, RNA, and protein designed to give patients and their care teams the best possible understanding of how their tumor works and what its vulnerabilities are.

We’re building the diagnostics and bioinformatics company to power this future, starting by applying this approach to patients with challenging cancers. In our first year, we worked with over 75 of these patients and, in many cases, identified plausible therapeutic targets which had not been discovered previously. This coming year, we’re on track to scale our patient volume significantly, all while bringing new diagnostic modalities (e.g., single-cell and spatial transcriptomics) and analytical approaches into clinical care for the very first time.

We’ve raised a $13.5M seed round, led by 8VC and Basis Set Ventures, and are looking for people passionate about changing cancer care to join our growing team.

Role overview

We're hiring a Head of Growth to build and lead our patient-facing marketing efforts. You'll partner with our product and patient engagement teams to develop campaign ideas spanning organic social posts, social advertisements, events, and more to grow awareness of Valius’s offering. In addition to setting our growth strategy, you’ll own its day-to-day execution as our founding marketing hire.

This is a unique opportunity to build a new capability at a fast-growing startup, where you’ll get regular exposure to the founding team.

This is an in-person role in San Francisco.

What you’ll do

- Define our growth marketing strategy in partnership with the founding and patient engagement teams

- Develop and launch campaigns to grow patient awareness across social media, events, and paid channels

- Support marketing relationships with patient advocacy and support communities

- Direct and optimize Valius’s SEO and AEO

- Work with product and science teams to present Valius’s scientific offering in terms patients can understand

- Define and monitor success metrics for your campaigns

- Manage marketing contractors and budgets

What you’ll bring

- 5+ years in growth marketing in consumer-facing setting

- Experience building new marketing motions and processes from the ground up

- Experience developing and executing impactful organic and paid campaigns on social media

- Experience at a health, medtech, wellness, or nutrition company (strongly preferred)

- Experience at a startup (strongly preferred)

- Experience supporting events in partnership with other team members or third-parties (strongly preferred)

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Commitment to our patient-focused mission
