The posting

Vantage is looking for a Technical Project Manager with expertise in software to own delivery timelines for the technology projects we run with our retailer clients. You will work closely with engineering, product, solutions architecture, and account management to drive projects from kickoff to launch, keep every date visible in Jira, and push back early and clearly when work starts to slip. You need to know our systems and Jira inside and out, and to be the person who keeps delivery honest, on schedule and well communicated to clients and senior management.

Key Job Responsibilities

- Own delivery timelines for software, integration and platform projects at our retailer clients, and keep plans, milestones and dependencies current in our project management software.

- Run the delivery cadence with engineering, product and SA: sprint planning, standups, backlog grooming, release planning, UAT and go-live readiness.

- Spot slippage early, assess its cause and impact, and push back clearly and constructively with engineering, product, internal teams and clients, resetting dates and expectations before they become escalations.

- Manage cross-team and third-party dependencies, including client-side technical work, and hold each owner accountable for dates and deliverables.

- Own program communication: crisp status updates, risks and blockers, and well-timed escalations to senior management.

- Manage change requests against the agreed scope and flag scope, timeline and resourcing trade-offs to leadership.

- Define and share project management best practices across Vantage, including Jira standards, RAID and status reporting, and release processes.

- Run post-launch and post-release retrospectives to create new efficiencies and a culture of continuous improvement.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, ensuring alignment on goals and expectations.

- Travel, domestic and international, up to 25% of the time.

Required Qualifications

- Proven experience managing software or technology projects with engineering teams, ideally at a software, SaaS or at a service provider.

- Expert, hands-on Jira experience: boards, sprints, epics, dependencies, workflows, dashboards and reporting. You build and maintain the plan, not just update tickets.

- Strong working knowledge of Agile, Scrum or hybrid delivery methods and of the software development lifecycle, including QA, UAT and release management.

- Solid understanding of technical systems, APIs and integrations, enough to ask the right questions of engineers and spot risk in a plan.

- A track record of holding timelines: you can tell when a project is slipping, say so early, and negotiate new dates with engineers, stakeholders and clients without losing the relationship.

- Excellent organization, time management and communication skills, including clear written status reporting to senior management.

- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects across several organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in retail media, advertising or ad tech.

- Experience in an account management or other customer-facing role.

- A proactive mindset and the ability to independently identify opportunities for process improvement.

- Experience in entrepreneurship or product management.

- PMP, CSM, SAFe or similar certification.

- Preferred Location: Greater Toronto Area

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
