The posting
Vet Nurse | Brisbane | Part-Time (19 Hours Per Week)
We’re not looking for someone to fill a seat. We’re looking for someone who wants to help build something.
We’re a Brisbane GP veterinary clinic in an exciting stage of growth — building a team, refining how we work, and creating a practice we can be genuinely proud of for the long term.
We’re growing our team, developing our systems, investing in our equipment and creating a practice where great patient care and great people can genuinely coexist.
And we’re looking for a Vet Nurse who wants to be part of that journey.
This is a 19-hour-per-week part-time role designed for someone who wants meaningful work, a supportive team environment and the opportunity to genuinely contribute — without needing to commit to a traditional full-time schedule.
This isn’t a role where you’ll simply turn up, do what you’re told and go home.
We want someone who brings experience, confidence, ideas and initiative. Someone who cares about doing things well, enjoys being part of a team and wants to have a genuine voice in how we continue to build the practice.
Our Head Nurse is highly experienced across both GP and emergency nursing, with particular strength in anaesthesia. She’s the kind of person who will genuinely invest in you, share her knowledge and support your development.
What we offer
- Part-time hours — 19 hours per week with a focus on quality work and sustainable balance.
- A supportive roster — designed to provide consistency while respecting life outside work.
- Paid public holidays — because everyone deserves a public holiday.
- Very limited overtime — we’re honest that occasionally the day runs over, but it’s actively managed rather than treated as “just part of vet nursing”. With emergency clinics nearby, after-hours pressure doesn’t fall on you.
- Free CPD — including online access and a dedicated training facility.
- Meaningful staff pet discounts — actually meaningful. Not 10% off a bag of kibble.
- Real scope of practice — nurse-led consults, clinical input, protocol development and opportunities to build your skills.
- A practice manager who genuinely prioritises staff wellbeing — not as a poster on the wall, but in the decisions we make.
- Wraparound support — from your Practice Manager, Lead Vet, Head Nurse and wider team. You won’t be left to figure things out alone.
- A chance to help shape the practice — your experience and ideas will actually influence how we grow.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has 2+ years of qualified GP veterinary nursing experience
- Is confident working independently
- Has solid clinical nursing skills and enjoys using them
- Is comfortable with anaesthesia, surgery, hospital nursing and general GP duties
- Communicates brilliantly with clients, vets and other nurses
- Enjoys mentoring and supporting junior team members
- Takes pride in their work and genuinely cares about patient outcomes
- Is proactive and happy to take ownership
- Isn’t afraid to ask questions or challenge the status quo
- Actively contributes ideas and isn’t afraid to say, “What if we did this differently?”
- Wants to build something for the long term rather than simply looking for the next role
- Cares about being part of a team and contributing to the wider community
You don’t need to know everything. You just need to be someone who wants to keep learning, contribute, and make things better.
A word on culture
We’re not perfect — and we’ll say that plainly.
We’re a newer team deliberately building for long-term success. That means we’re still refining, still improving, still figuring some things out and genuinely open to being made better by the right people.
And honestly, we like that.
We want people who are comfortable saying:
"What if we tried this?"
"I think we could do that better."
"Have we considered…?"
Because the right person joining us won’t just slot into the team. They’ll help shape it.
If you get energy from that kind of environment, we’d love to hear from you.
Ready to be part of it?
If you’re a Vet Nurse looking for a part-time role where you can use your skills, have a voice, develop your career and actually help shape the practice around you, we’d genuinely love to hear from you.
