The posting

Het Topklinisch Centrum voor Korsakov (TCvK) en alcoholgerelateerde cognitieve stoornissen van het Vincent van Gogh Instituut diagnosticeert en behandelt complexe alcoholgerelateerde cognitieve stoornissen waarbij de verslavingsproblematiek veelal therapieresistent is gebleken. Als gevolg van een beperkte voedselintake, vaak in combinatie ernstig chronisch alcoholgebruik, kunnen er neurocognitieve stoornissen ontstaan. Bij een klein deel van onze cliënten is er sprake van het syndroom van Korsakov, een stoornis gekenmerkt door een disproportioneel ernstige geheugenstoornis in combinatie met desoriëntatie en een ontbrekend ziekte-inzicht. Dit komt vaak voor in combinatie met ernstige sociaal-maatschappelijke problemen, (zelf)verwaarlozing en apathie. Daarnaast is er sprake van een hoge comorbiditeit, zoals de aanwezigheid van een neurodegeneratief ziektebeeld, niet-aangeboren hersenletsel en psychiatrische stoornissen. Onze cliënten hebben een brede leeftijdsrange van ongeveer 45 tot 80 jaar oud.

Subtiele veranderingen in het cognitieve functioneren zijn minder goed herkenbaar, maar hebben een negatieve invloed op de behandeling en zelfredzaamheid. Naast uitgebreide diagnostiektrajecten wordt er daarom tijdens (poli)klinische (groep)behandelingen ingestoken op het verbeteren van de zelfredzaamheid en het dagelijks functioneren door nieuwe vaardigheden aan te leren, eventueel ondersteunt door ambulante thuisbehandeling. Het behandelteam bestaat naast klinisch (neuro)psychologen, GZ-psychologen en masterpsychologen uit een neuroloog, psychiater, verpleegkundig specialisten, artsen, verpleegkundigen en vaktherapeuten.

Als stagiair wordt je van harte welkom geheten in ons jonge psychologenteam. Je gaat aan de slag met het leren uitvoeren en interpreteren van uitgebreide (neuro)psychologische diagnostiek en hebt hierdoor veel direct patiëntencontact. Daarnaast doe je behandelervaring op als co-therapeut in onze uitgebreide groepstrainingen die zich bijvoorbeeld richt op het leren omgaan met problematisch alcoholgebruik bij cognitieve problemen of het leren begrijpen, herkennen en reguleren van emoties en spanning. Er zijn wekelijks intakegesprekken, behandelgesprekken en overleggen waar je bij mag aansluiten. Ook is het mogelijk om mee te lopen met het verplegend team op diverse afdelingen en aan te sluiten bij onder andere vaktherapieën, beeldende therapie, muziektherapie of arbeidstherapie.

Het Topklinisch Centrum voor Korsakov (TCvK) heeft als enige behandelcentrum in Nederland voor deze doelgroep het keurmerk TOPGGz. Dat staat garant voor zeer specialistische en innovatieve cliëntenzorg, toegepast wetenschappelijk en cliëntgebonden onderzoek. We bieden daarom een stageplaats aan waarbij je zowel een klinische stage gaat lopen en een masterthese kunt uitvoeren. Er lopen verschillende wetenschappelijke onderzoeken waarbij je kunt aansluiten. Er wordt onder andere onderzoek gedaan naar apathie, ziekte-inzicht en executief functioneren bij patiënten met alcoholgerelateerde cognitieve stoornissen.
