The posting

MongoDB is seeking an exceptional Product Manager to own disaster recovery and business continuity for the world's leading developer data platform.

In this role, you will own the product vision, requirements, and execution plan for Standby Clusters, MongoDB's disaster recovery offering for both Atlas and Enterprise Advanced. Standby Clusters continuously replicates a production cluster to an isolated standby in a separate region, datacenter, or cloud provider, delivering sub-minute recovery time and near-zero data loss. You will work closely with engineering, customers in regulated industries, and the field to take the product from preview to GA and beyond, and to shape MongoDB's broader strategy for replication, recovery, and resilience.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Dublin for our hybrid working model.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the product strategy and roadmap for Standby Clusters across Atlas and Enterprise Advanced, from public preview through GA and the post-GA feature set (planned failover and reverse sync, cross-cloud and multi-region topologies, scaling while linked, backup integration)
  • Own the recovery objectives and the tradeoffs behind them: define and defend RTO and RPO targets, replication lag semantics, consistency guarantees across sharded clusters, and the behavior of failover, switchover, and failback
  • Drive the product's position within MongoDB's resilience portfolio: when a customer should choose Standby Clusters versus multi-region clusters, backups and point-in-time restore, or Atlas Stream Processing, and how these offerings fit together
  • Partner with customers in financial services, healthcare, and other regulated industries to translate compliance requirements (such as DORA and isolated-recovery-environment mandates) into product requirements, and run DR gamedays and design-partner programs with them
  • Define the operator experience across the Atlas UI, Atlas Administration API, Ops Manager, CLI, and Terraform, including monitoring, alerting on replication lag and standby health, and the "break glass" path when the active region is unreachable
  • Shape pricing and packaging for standby capacity and the associated storage and data transfer
  • Collaborate with engineering on architecture decisions that affect customer-visible behavior, including replication through object storage, cluster-wide consistent timestamps, and dependencies on the Atlas control plane
  • Gather and analyze usage data, failover outcomes, and customer feedback to drive improvements, and own the success metrics for adoption, standby creation time, and time-to-recovery
  • Work with marketing, sales, and customer success on go-to-market, enablement, and launch readiness
  • Stay current on disaster recovery, replication, and high-availability approaches across the database industry and cloud providers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in product management or a deeply technical customer-facing role, focused on database systems, distributed systems, or infrastructure
  • Deep understanding of durability, availability, and performance tradeoffs in distributed systems. Hands-on experience with replication, consensus, failover, backup and restore, or disaster recovery is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of how production databases are operated: replica sets and sharding, consistency models, recovery objectives, maintenance and upgrade workflows, and the operational realities of regulated environments
  • Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or comparable database systems, and with at least one major cloud provider
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive complex technical programs with multiple engineering teams and external design partners
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain recovery semantics to both platform engineers and compliance officers
  • Strong technical acumen. Our Product Managers must be as technical as their engineering counterparts and have real depth of knowledge

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
