The Opportunity:
Avantor is seeking a Process Engineer to manage all phases of assigned small-scale process improvement projects, ensuring successful completion within appropriate timeframes and costs.
The Process Engineer also supports feasibility studies for process improvements. They will also create necessary documentation and assist in communication with personnel.
This role will be a full-time position based out of our Bakersfield, CA office. Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8 am- 5 pm. Must also have 'on call' availability (as needed).
What we’re looking for:
Education: BS Degree in Chemical engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical engineering, or other engineering fields.
Experience: 0- 2 years preferred.
- Chemical process experience & experience interpreting P&IDs desired.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and process safety.
- Chemical engineering or mechanical engineering preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
- Data analytics.
- Microsoft Power BI software experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality.
- Ability to understand and follow site protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with proficiency in Word and Excel.
How you will thrive and create an impact:
- Work with manufacturing teams to provide technical guidance on processes, equipment operating procedures, and manufacturing procedures.
- Troubleshoot process issues and help resolve them or escalate as needed.
- Investigate non-conforming batches using root cause analysis and provide corrective and preventive actions.
- Work with process engineers to set up manufacturing area and testing equipment for new process technology transfer.
- Provide safety guidance for the work area, including resolving safety concerns, managing process change, leading pre-startup safety reviews, and following safe work practices.
- Learn the process, help improve manufacturing procedures, and train employees.
- Assist with pilot batches and process improvements.

Pay Transparency:
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
$62,500.00 - $100,625.00
Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
