Job description
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Dog Groomer to join on a full-time Monday to Friday basis. Reporting to (and fully supported by) our Head of Grooming, you’ll deliver high-quality pet and breed-standard grooms in a purpose-built luxury salon. Confident in all grooming techniques, and from puppy intros to senior grooms, you will have a genuine passion and love for animals and animal care, and be capable of working independently and as a team, completing grooms from start to finish. Because WagWorks unites daycare, veterinary and behaviour services under one roof, you’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to give every dog a holistic, stress-free experience - so you can focus on producing great grooms and making members happy.
- Qualification: City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent).
- Experience: Around two years of salon grooming experience, confident with a wide range of breeds and coat types.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in hand-stripping, breed-standard scissoring and puppy and senior grooms.
- Animal Handling: Calm, patient approach that puts canine welfare first and uses positive, low-stress methods.
- Client Care: Comfortable discussing style options, coat maintenance and after-care with discerning owners.
- Team Spirit: Eager to collaborate with grooming colleagues, vets, behaviourists, daycare and front-of-house colleagues to deliver joined-up care.
- Hygiene & Safety: Strong understanding of salon cleanliness, equipment maintenance and canine first-aid.
Grooming Excellence
- Deliver quality grooms and customer service to WagWorks’ premium standards.
- Tailor each groom to a dog’s needs, coat condition, lifestyle and owner preference, recording notes for future visits.
Client Experience & Retention
- Welcome owners at drop-off, confirm grooming briefs and provide clear after-care advice at collection.
- Log groom details, photos and feedback in the CRM so the wider team can access consistent records.
- Process payments for grooming services
Team Collaboration & Welfare
- Liaise as needed with vets and behaviourists regarding skin conditions, medical flags or handling considerations.
- Share grooming insights with daycare staff and owners to support at-home maintenance and overall wellbeing.
Salon Operations & Safety
- Maintain a spotless, safe salon—vaccuming, cleaning and sterilising tools and tables, laundering towels, checking and helping to maintain equipment, using products safely, according to manufacturers’ instructions.
- Ensure stock levels of shampoos, consumables and PPE, reporting any shortages to the Head of Grooming.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
- Attend monthly quality reviews with the Head of Grooming.
- Contribute ideas for new spa add-ons or seasonal promotions that enhance the WagWorks grooming offering.
- Identify opportunities for ongoing professional development.
