Role summary:

As a Market Strategy Data Science Intern, you will analyze demographic, competitive and geographic trends that inform real estate and market growth strategies. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to evaluate site opportunities, identify patterns in large datasets and generate predictive insights for store location planning and portfolio optimization. About the team:

Walmart Real Estate supports the places and physical assets that enable Walmart to serve customers and communities. Our work spans the full real estate lifecycle and brings together teams across strategy, portfolio and development, design, construction, facilities, fuel and convenience, data, technology, and other supporting functions.

This graduate/MBA internship supports Market Strategy through data science, artificial intelligence, and geospatial analysis. The role will help identify high-priority growth opportunities and strengthen data-informed real estate decisions. What you'll do:

  • Analyze demographic, competitive and geographic data to support market prioritization.
  • Use SQL, machine learning and geospatial methods to identify patterns and generate actionable insights.
  • Build a market prioritization model in Power BI.
  • Explore an agentic AI and optimization solution to improve market and site opportunity decisions.
  • Translate analytical results into recommendations for market strategy and real estate leaders.
  • Collaborate with data science, real estate, strategy and other cross-functional teams.
  • Document assumptions, methods and findings and deliver a final presentation.

What you'll bring:

  • Currently pursuing a MBA or graduate degree in data science, analytics, business, economics, computer science, engineering or a related field.
  • Ability to work with structured data and communicate analytical findings to non-technical partners.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI, machine learning, geospatial analysis or optimization.
  • Coursework or project experience involving artificial intelligence, predictive analytics or real estate strategy.
  • Interest in applying advanced analytics to growth, site selection and portfolio decisions.

The hourly wage range for this position is $21.00 - $40.00*
