Role summary:
The Manager, Automation Engineering - Zero Emission Deployment leads the deployment, implementation, and integration of zero emission vehicle systems across Walmart's supply chain network. This role leverages data analysis and advanced analytics to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. This role takes electric vehicles and other emerging technologies from pilot through scaled deployment by coordinating vehicle readiness, site infrastructure, operational requirements, vendor execution, and launch activities. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering and program management skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across Transportation, Operations, Fleet Services, Energy, and external technology partners to successfully deploy new technologies in complex operating environments. About the team: Walmart’s Transportation Engineering team leads advancements within one of North America’s largest private fleets, emphasizing zero-emissions technology, autonomous systems, and yard modernization. The team develops and implements innovative solutions that transform freight, equipment, and asset movement across Walmart’s network. Collaborating closely with operations, technology partners, and external providers, the team applies engineering expertise, automation, and data-driven insights to enhance safety, efficiency, and transportation operations. This dynamic environment supports continuous improvement and project management to deliver scalable, impactful results that shape the future of transportation at Walmart. What you'll do:
- Lead deployment of electric vehicles and other zero-emission transportation technologies across Walmart’s supply chain.
- Develop and execute site deployment plans, schedules, readiness criteria, and launch strategies.
- Coordinate vehicle, infrastructure, operational, maintenance, safety, and training requirements.
- Lead cross-functional execution with Operations, Fleet Services, Energy, site teams, and external partners.
- Analyze operational and technical data to evaluate performance, identify trends, and drive improvements.
- Manage vendors through installation, commissioning, launch, and stabilization.
- Track key performance metrics, risks, and milestones.
- Translate deployment learnings into repeatable standards and processes that enable enterprise scale.
What you'll bring:
- Experience leading complex engineering, technology, vehicle, or infrastructure deployments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical and operational data, identify root causes, and drive data-based decisions.
- Strong program management skills across multiple workstreams, schedules, risks, and dependencies.
- Ability to translate operational needs into technical requirements and practical solutions.
- Experience managing vendors and cross-functional stakeholders through execution.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and influencing skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving technology environments.
- Experience with electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, fleet operations, or transportation technology is preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
