About the Opportunity:
The Department of Community Corrections is currently searching for a Senior Accounting Assistant.
The Senior Accounting Assistant supports the daily financial operations of the Administrative Division within Department of Community Corrections by performing routine to moderate accounting and recordkeeping tasks. Working under the general supervision of the Administrative Manager, this position collaborates closely with staff across the department while processing accounts payable and receivable transactions, preparing deposits, assisting with timekeeping and payroll support, and maintaining accurate financial records in County systems. This role is well‑suited for someone who enjoys detail‑oriented work, reliable processes, and being part of a supportive administrative team.
Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
We are seeking a candidate who blends strong technical expertise with excellent communication and collaboration skills. The most important attributes for this role include:
- Knowledge of basic accounting and financial recordkeeping practices used for processing invoices, payments, deposits, and routine reconciliations.
- Skill in performing accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including reviewing invoices, preparing deposits, and recording payments accurately.
- Ability to maintain organized and accurate financial records in computerized systems and follow established accounting procedures.
- Experience supporting timekeeping or payroll‑related tasks by reviewing information for completeness and accuracy.
- Skill in organizing work effectively, managing recurring deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail across daily and monthly tasks.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff, vendors, and partner agencies regarding routine financial processes.
- Ability to provide patient, helpful customer service while assisting with questions or resolving basic financial issues.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, contributing to a supportive team environment and sharing knowledge as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Possession of an Associate Degree in accounting, business, or related field AND two (2) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR
- Accounting Certificate (12 months) AND three (3) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR
- Five (5) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management.
