The Manager, FP&A – Revenue & Growth is a key finance business partner supporting The Washington Post’s B2C digital subscription, B2B revenue, and emerging growth initiatives. This role translates business performance, market dynamics, and operating decisions into clear financial insight that helps leaders invest wisely, manage risk, and build sustainable revenue.

Reporting within the FP&A organization, the Manager leads planning, forecasting, and performance analysis for assigned revenue businesses while developing financial talent and strengthening the tools, processes, and partnerships that support informed decision-making across the company.

What Motivates You

  • You are energized by helping mission-driven media organizations build durable, diversified revenue models.
  • You enjoy translating complex financial and operating data into clear insights that guide decisions.
  • You value collaborative partnership with leaders across Product, Marketing, Sales, Newsroom, Data Analytics & Insights, and Finance.
  • You are motivated by improving planning processes, models, and reporting so teams can act with greater clarity and confidence.
  • You take pride in developing financial talent and creating an inclusive, accountable team environment.

How You’ll Support the Mission

  • Lead annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range plans for assigned revenue streams, producing aligned financial plans that support enterprise priorities and growth goals.
  • Develop driver-based revenue models that connect pricing, volume, pipeline, customer behavior, and other operating metrics to reliable financial outcomes.
  • Analyze actual revenue performance against budget and forecast, identifying variance drivers, risks, opportunities, and outlook changes that enable timely leadership action.
  • Advise business leaders on operating performance, investment choices, and resource-allocation decisions, resulting in actionable recommendations grounded in financial and strategic analysis.
  • Evaluate new products, partnerships, pricing strategies, and growth initiatives through business cases, scenario analyses, and financial models, enabling informed decisions on investments and tradeoffs.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, Product, Newsroom, Data Analytics & Insights, and other teams to improve revenue performance and align business plans with financial objectives.
  • Incorporate relevant market, competitive, and industry trends into forecasts and planning, strengthening the organization’s ability to anticipate changes in the revenue environment.
  • Strengthen revenue reporting, forecasting, and planning processes through improved data quality, automation, and planning tools, increasing consistency, efficiency, and confidence in financial information.
  • Integrate monthly close results and performance-review insights into forecasts, ensuring leaders understand results and their implications for the forward outlook.
  • Manage and develop financial analyst(s) through clear priorities, coaching, and quality review, building stronger financial modeling, business acumen, and partnership capabilities.
  • Lead strategic analyses and ambiguous growth-related projects, structuring complex questions and communicating conclusions that advance executive decision-making.

The Skills and Experience You Bring

  • Six or more years of progressively responsible experience in financial planning and analysis, strategic finance, corporate finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting revenue-oriented, subscription, digital, consumer, B2B, or growth businesses; media-industry experience is valuable but not required.
  • Experience managing, coaching, or formally leading financial analysts and reviewing complex analytical work.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and scenario-analysis skills, including the ability to connect operating drivers to financial results.
  • Ability to synthesize complex financial and business information into concise, practical recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with demonstrated success partnering across functions and levels of an organization.
  • Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and comfort navigating evolving priorities and incomplete information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with financial planning and analysis platforms, such as Oracle, SAP, Planful, Adaptive Insights, or Anaplan.
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Knowledge of digital media, consumer subscription, advertising, SaaS, or other recurring-revenue business models.
  • Familiarity with investment analysis, corporate development, partnerships, or mergers and acquisitions.
  • MBA, CFA, CPA, or comparable advanced finance credential.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
