We are a premier clinical respiratory services and consulting organization partnering with leading skilled nursing and long-term care facilities across multiple regions. Dedicated to elevating pulmonary standards in post-acute care, our team specializes in establishing, staffing, and managing comprehensive in-house respiratory units tailored to high-acuity residents. By combining clinical excellence, advanced technology, and compassionate patient care, we bridge hospital-level respiratory therapy with long-term rehabilitation. Our multidisciplinary approach empowers partner facilities to optimize patient outcomes, reduce avoidable rehospitalizations, and deliver exceptional quality of life to individuals with complex cardiopulmonary needs.

Due to ongoing regional growth across our partner networks, we are currently hiring Respiratory Therapists (RT) across several target markets: Louisiana, the Milwaukee area, North Carolina, and Central/Southern Illinois. In this role, you will be instrumental in providing direct bedside care, managing specialized pulmonary units, and ensuring that all therapies comply with current federal, state, and local standards, facility guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Operating in a post-acute, sub-acute, or skilled nursing environment, you will manage complex airway and ventilator modalities, collaborate closely with nursing and attending medical staff, and serve as an essential clinical resource for residents and their families. This role requires clinical competence, sound diagnostic judgment, and an unwavering commitment to achieving the highest degree of quality care and clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Resident Assessment & Therapy: Evaluate, treat, and care for residents experiencing acute and chronic respiratory disorders, including those who are ventilator-dependent or have established tracheostomies.
  • Airway Clearance & Aerosol Delivery: Administer prescribed pharmacological aerosols, bland aerosol therapies, chest physiotherapy, and both open/closed tracheal and oral suctioning to maintain airway patency.
  • Mechanical Ventilation Management: Provide comprehensive routine and emergent management for ventilator-dependent residents, including circuit connections, monitoring settings, routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and executing clinical weaning protocols.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Obtain, handle, and analyze Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) samples in accordance with facility protocols and clinical laboratory standards, interpreting results to guide therapy modifications.
  • Outcomes Analysis: Continuously assess resident responses to therapy; analyze clinical outcomes and deliver data-driven recommendations to physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize individual care plans.
  • Restorative & Preventative Care: Implement therapeutic interventions and preventative strategies designed to help residents maintain or achieve their highest achievable level of respiratory function, actively mitigating risks of pulmonary decline and hospital readmission.
  • Education & Counseling: Deliver comprehensive, individualized respiratory education to residents, family members, and caregivers, empowering them to actively support treatment goals and maintain functional independence within physical capabilities.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Partner closely with the charge nurse, attending physicians, and rehabilitation specialists; promptly communicate and address any changes in resident condition or vital trends.
  • Physician Orders: Accurately receive, transcribe, and carry out verbal and telephone orders from physicians regarding respiratory care and diagnostic procedures.
  • Electronic Health Records: Complete accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation of all treatments, interventions, medication administrations, and resident responses in compliance with regulatory and third-party reimbursement standards.
  • Emergency Response: Serve as a frontline clinical responder during cardiopulmonary emergencies, code calls, and airway crises, executing life-saving resuscitation techniques as indicated.
  • Equipment Oversight: Safely assemble, operate, calibrate, disinfect, and monitor all respiratory therapy equipment and delivery systems.
  • Supply & Store Room Management: Inventory, inspect, and maintain appropriate stock levels of respiratory supplies, par levels, and medications on the unit and in supply areas; ensure strict adherence to equipment handling and safety protocols.
  • Infection Prevention: Rigorously adhere to universal precautions, facility infection control guidelines, and sterile techniques to safeguard residents and clinical teams.
  • Quality Improvement & Growth: Actively engage in departmental Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) audits, attend mandatory meetings and in-services, complete annual departmental competencies, and fulfill other clinical duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted State License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner / Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) in the state of practice (Louisiana, Wisconsin, North Carolina, or Illinois, depending on location applied for).
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification for Healthcare Providers.

Preferred Qualifications & Core Competencies:

  • Clinical Experience: Prior clinical experience working in long-term care (LTC), skilled nursing facilities (SNF), or sub-acute pulmonary rehabilitation settings is strongly preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language to effectively chart, consult with physicians, and communicate with residents and care teams.
  • Independent Judgment: Strong critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to make sound, independent clinical decisions promptly when circumstances warrant.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of general nursing and medical practices, evidence-based respiratory care guidelines, and state/federal regulations governing skilled nursing and long-term care facilities.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to work collaboratively, flexibly, and empathetically within a multidisciplinary clinical team.

Compensation

  • Base Salary Range: $90,000 – $93,000 per year (commensurate with credentials, experience, and specific facility location)
  • Employment Type: Full-Time

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
