Lead student-centred Library Learning Hub services that strengthen academic, digital and information skills.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and organised Learning Hub Senior Librarian to join the Library Student Skills and Engagement team and help shape the delivery of high-quality, student-centred Learning Hub services across Western.

In this role, you will take a lead role in coordinating Learning Hub services across Western’s campuses and online channels. You will oversee rostering, supervise and support Learning Hub Librarians, and provide training and guidance to staff and casuals to promote a consistent and engaging experience for students.

Alongside your coordination responsibilities, you will remain connected to frontline service delivery, providing responsive support across face-to-face, online chat, phone and FAQ channels. You will assist students with a broad range of enquiries while helping them build the academic, digital and information skills they need to succeed at university.

Working closely with the Learning Hub Coordinator and colleagues across the Library, you will help ensure services are accessible, inclusive and responsive to Western’s diverse student community, including undergraduate, postgraduate, regional and international students. You will use sound judgement and apply Library frameworks, service guidelines and University policies to support accurate, professional and student-focused outcomes.

You will also help strengthen and evolve Learning Hub services by contributing to service evaluation, responding to feedback and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. By staying current with library systems, digital tools and student support practices, you will help ensure the Learning Hub continues to provide relevant, welcoming and high-quality support wherever students engage with us.

What Success Looks Like:

Success in this role will see you combining strong coordination and people leadership with a genuine commitment to the student experience. You will:

  • Coordinate rostering and resources to support effective Learning Hub services across campuses and online channels.
  • Guide, support and develop Learning Hub Librarians and casual staff to deliver professional, accurate and student-centred services.
  • Provide responsive enquiry and learning support across face-to-face and digital channels.
  • Use feedback, service evaluation and emerging practices to identify and contribute to continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Build strong working relationships across teams and campuses to create an inclusive, welcoming and respectful Library experience.

Please refer to the Position Description for full details.

About You

You will be an experienced library or learning support professional who enjoys combining service coordination, team leadership and direct student engagement. Organised and approachable, you will bring sound judgement, strong communication skills and the confidence to coordinate services across a busy, multi-campus environment. You will bring:

  • A degree in Library Studies or a relevant discipline, with eligibility for ALIA membership.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering learning support services within an academic or library environment, including frontline services, digital and academic skills activities, and student engagement.
  • Experience coordinating library services and providing leadership, supervision or guidance to staff, preferably within a senior or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary frontline library services, including online chat, phone and other digital service channels.
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate and roster services across physical and online environments.
  • An understanding of academic skills development and the role libraries play in supporting student learning and success.
  • Advanced digital literacy, with confidence using library management systems, digital tools and emerging technologies.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
