Job Summary

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant performs laboratory non-technical tasks to assist laboratory workflow. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

• 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
• 2. Monitors pending lists and assists with Add on testing.
• 3. Manages specimens to be given to technical staff for pending tests.
• 4. Processes send out testing to be placed on a packing list to a referral laboratory
• 5. Monitors inventory as required for par levels and storage
• 6. Answers phones and places phone calls are requested.
• 7. Removes and discards specimens that are no longer needed.
• 8. Investigate location and status of specimens in the LIS
• 9. Place specimens in centrifuge and on automated track systems.
• 10. Records temperature, humidity, and other maintenance logs as needed.
• 11. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous laboratory experience or healthcare environment experience preferred
