We foster an inclusive, collaborative culture that supports professional growth, flexibility, and meaningful work, empowering our employees to make a lasting impact on our clients, communities, and the planet.

Build your career in water and wastewater operations with Woodard & Curran

At Woodard & Curran, you'll join a nationwide team of certified operators backed by engineers, scientists, and environmental professionals. Together, we keep essential water and wastewater systems running safely and efficiently while helping protect public health and the environment.

Woodard & Curran is growing, and we'd love for you to grow with us!

We're looking for an Operator to support the operation and maintenance of two wastewater facilities, 14 wastewater lift stations, and 12 drinking water well sites. Dual certification in water and wastewater is preferred, but not required.

This is a great opportunity for an operator who enjoys variety and wants a hands-on role where no two days look exactly the same. You'll work with treatment processes and equipment, collect and analyze water quality samples, monitor systems, troubleshoot equipment, and help maintain facilities and grounds.

Schedule & On-Call

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6.00am - 2.30pm.
  • This position participates in a rotating on-call schedule shared among the operator team.
  • You'll receive an additional $200 for each week you're on call.
  • Call-outs are compensated with a two-hour minimum per call-out.
  • Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.

Pay

$28–$35/hour, depending on your water and wastewater licensure and level of experience.

What You Will Be Doing

As part of the operations team, you'll:

  • Conduct daily plant inspections and operational rounds.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot plant equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Collect water quality samples and perform testing and analysis to support compliance with federal, state, and EPA standards.
  • Monitor treatment processes and make process-control adjustments using SCADA through remote access.
  • Use asset management software to manage maintenance work orders and maintain operational records.
  • Inspect and maintain wastewater lift stations, including cleaning wet wells and pulling pumps for repair and maintenance.
  • Help maintain facility grounds and the overall appearance of our sites, including mowing, washing buildings, and spraying weeds.
  • Work closely with fellow operators and staff to share responsibilities and keep operations running smoothly.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid State of Missouri Class "C" Drinking Water license and/or Class "A" Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license. Dual certification in water and wastewater is preferred, but not required.
  • A valid Missouri driver's license.
  • A DOT medical card is preferred, but not required.
  • The ability to make sound process-control decisions, follow procedures, and work safely.
  • Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance, asset management, equipment reliability, or process improvement programs.

Physical & Work Environment

  • This is a hands-on position that involves working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • The role may require lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to complete a job-related physical examination, drug screen, and background check.

Grow With Us

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
