Cura of Le Sueur is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Nursing & Infection Prevention (RN) to join our nursing leadership team.
This position is an important part of the day-to-day leadership of our nursing department. Working closely with the Director of Nursing and Administrator, the Assistant Director of Nursing & Infection Prevention helps support nursing operations, staff development, clinical quality, regulatory compliance, and the overall delivery of resident care.
In addition to nursing leadership responsibilities, this position leads the facility's infection prevention and control program. This includes infection surveillance, staff education, monitoring infection prevention practices, supporting antibiotic stewardship, and helping ensure our facility remains prepared and compliant with infection prevention requirements.
We are looking for an RN who enjoys leadership but also wants to remain connected to residents and staff. The ideal candidate is organized, approachable, clinically strong, and comfortable coaching employees, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping the nursing team succeed.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with the Director of Nursing to support day-to-day nursing operations
- Serve as a clinical resource and leader for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing staff
- Assist with nursing staff education, orientation, competency development, and ongoing training
- Provide coaching, feedback, and support to nursing employees
- Assist with monitoring resident care, clinical documentation, and nursing practices
- Support admissions, changes in condition, care planning, and other clinical needs
- Participate in clinical investigations, incident reviews, and corrective action as appropriate
- Support survey readiness and ongoing compliance with state and federal requirements
- Participate in QAPI and other quality improvement initiatives
- Assist the Director of Nursing with implementing nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care
- Provide nursing leadership and support when the Director of Nursing is unavailable
Infection Prevention Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain the facility's infection prevention and control program
- Conduct ongoing infection surveillance and identify patterns, trends, and potential areas of concern
- Track and review infections and ensure appropriate follow-up
- Monitor infection prevention practices throughout the facility, including hand hygiene and appropriate use of personal protective equipment
- Provide infection prevention education and training to employees
- Support appropriate implementation of transmission-based precautions and other infection control measures
- Review infection-related data and communicate trends and opportunities for improvement to facility leadership
- Maintain required infection prevention documentation, logs, and reports
- Participate in outbreak response, investigation, monitoring, and follow-up
- Stay current on infection prevention guidance and applicable regulatory requirements
- Participate in QAPI initiatives related to infection prevention and resident safety

Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota
- Previous skilled nursing, long-term care, post-acute, or similar clinical experience preferred
- Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Infection Preventionist training or willingness to complete required training
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to educate, coach, and provide constructive feedback to employees
- Understanding of long-term care regulations and survey processes preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
