Job Description

Job Purpose

The Banking and Treasury Section Head owns the day-to-day management of the company's banking and treasury operations across both onshore and offshore banking relationships. The role ensures accurate, timely and compliant execution of banking transactions, effective cash and liquidity management, and strong, well-controlled relationships with banking partners. The role also provides working-level support to the CFO on financing, forex risk and bank facility matters, without owning the strategic deal-origination agenda.

Responsibilities

1. Banking & Treasury Operations (Onshore & Offshore)

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of all onshore and offshore bank accounts, including account opening/closing, signatory updates, and administration of online banking platforms.
  • Execute and monitor domestic and cross-border payments and transfers, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable regulations (including CBE and exchange control requirements).
  • Maintain the bank facility register (limits, utilization, renewal dates) across onshore and offshore banks, and flag renewal or covenant requirements ahead of time.
  • Coordinate KYC, account documentation, and other periodic compliance submissions requested by banks.

2. Cash & Liquidity Management

  • Prepare and maintain short-term (daily/weekly) and medium-term cash flow forecasts across onshore and offshore entities, identifying surplus or deficit positions.
  • Recommend and execute fund transfers, intercompany funding, cash pooling/sweeping, and short-term placement or borrowing to optimize liquidity and banking costs.
  • Monitor working capital facility utilization and coordinate drawdowns and repayments with banks.

3. Trade Finance & Forex Execution

  • Process and follow up on trade finance instruments – letters of credit, letters of guarantee, bill discounting and supplier financing – including issuance, amendments and bank coordination.
  • Execute forex transactions (spot and forward) within approved limits and the Group's hedging policy; track forex exposures and rate movements.
  • Support the maintenance and reporting of interest rate and forex risk positions.

4. Banking Relationship Management & Compliance

  • Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact with onshore and offshore banking partners, ensuring queries and requirements are resolved promptly.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (accounting, legal, commercial) to gather documentation required by banks.
  • Monitor and comply with anti-fraud controls, treasury policies, and internal/external audit recommendations relating to banking operations.

5. Reporting & MIS

  • Prepare periodic MIS, treasury dashboards, and debt/facility utilization reports for the CFO and senior management.
  • Maintain accurate records supporting bank reconciliations, treasury controls, and audit requirements.

6. Strategic & Financing Support

  • Support the CFO in structuring, reviewing and negotiating credit facilities, term sheets and legal/banking agreements with banks and lawyers.
  • Assist in sourcing working capital and trade finance facilities from commercial banks, and provide supporting analysis for engagement with multilateral institutions (e.g. IFC, DEG, EBRD, FMO) where relevant.
  • Contribute treasury data and analysis to financing proposals, board papers and debt reviews prepared by senior management.

Key Interactions

  • Internal: CFO, Finance & Accounting team, Group Banking.
  • External: Banks, regulatory bodies, external/statutory auditors, tax advisors and consultants.

Performance Measures

  • Liquidity & cash availability: Maintain minimum approved liquidity buffer; zero avoidable payment/default events.
  • Debt covenant compliance: 100% compliance, with 90–180 day forward covenant forecasting.
  • Debt servicing & refinancing: 100% interest/principal paid on time; refinancing initiated well ahead of maturity.
  • Cost of borrowing: Actual all-in funding cost vs approved benchmark/budget; measurable savings from repricing/refinancing.
  • Cash-flow forecasting accuracy: 13-week forecast accuracy: ≥90–95%, particularly for first 4 weeks.
  • Working-capital / cash release: Reduction in trapped/excess cash; measurable cash released through treasury initiatives.
  • Cash visibility: ≥95–98% of group/country bank balances visible centrally daily.
  • Banking efficiency: Reduce idle accounts, bank charges and transaction costs; annual savings target.
  • Interest income on surplus cash: Return vs approved risk-free/low-risk benchmark while maintaining required liquidity.
  • Treasury controls: Zero material control breaches; 100% bank reconciliations and authorized transactions.
  • Banking relationships / facilities: Adequate committed facilities; diversification of lenders and no unexpected facility withdrawal.

Requirements

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
