The posting

The Saskatchewan Distribution group is growing, and we are currently looking to add Class 1A Licensed Operators to our team, based in Lloydminster, SK.

Reporting to the Foreman or Lead Hand, we are seeking experienced Operators with Class 1A Licences to support work associated with the operation, maintenance, construction and salvage of overhead and underground electric distribution systems. The ideal candidate would have support and training to progress to a full Class 1A Operator on boom trucks.

Please Note: This position works a Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM schedule (Monday – Thursday, 12 hours / day when daylight allows). Candidates must reside locally in Saskatchewan or be willing to relocate on their own. We also have a PPE and FR Clothing program for our employees to ensure you have what you need to work safely at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transport equipment, poles, and materials to and from job sites, yards, and laydown areas using tractor-trailer units (lowbed, pole trailer, etc.)
  • Properly load, secure, and unload equipment and materials, following load securement requirements
  • Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, logbooks, and bills of lading in line with Saskatchewan and federal commercial vehicle regulations
  • Navigate rural roads, off-road, and right-of-way access in varying weather and terrain
  • Assist with general ground-level distribution work: material handling, trenching support, traffic control, site setup, restoration, and demobilization
  • Follow all Valard HSE policies and safe work procedures, complete hazard assessments, and report incidents and near-misses
  • Be available to handle urgent or emergency situations, and to restore or assist in restoring electrical service following outages during and after normal working hours including weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays

Requirements

  • Proven experience transporting equipment to and from construction sites
  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 1A licence with a clean driver's abstract
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outside for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol Test when starting and annually
