We are looking for an experienced and results-oriented Department Manager to lead sales, operations, customer experience, inventory management, and team performance within a jewellery retail environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in jewellery or organised retail, with the ability to drive departmental sales while maintaining high standards of customer service, operational discipline, inventory accuracy, and security. This role requires a hands-on leader who can motivate sales teams, analyse performance, and contribute to overall store growth.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive departmental sales performance and achieve monthly and annual revenue targets.
  • Monitor key sales KPIs including conversion rate, Average Bill Value (ABV), and Units Per Transaction (UPT).
  • Drive sales across gold, diamond, platinum, and other jewellery categories.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, repeat purchases, and customer retention.
  • Monitor individual sales performance and implement coaching or improvement plans where required.
  • Lead, motivate, and supervise sales executives and other department team members.
  • Conduct daily team briefings and allocate individual sales targets.
  • Train team members on jewellery product knowledge, customer handling, selling techniques, and service standards.
  • Manage staff schedules, attendance, floor deployment, and daily manpower requirements.
  • Support the Store Manager in maintaining productivity, discipline, and overall store performance.
  • Ensure customers receive a premium and personalised shopping experience.
  • Handle customer complaints, escalations, enquiries, and service-related issues professionally.
  • Build relationships with high-value, repeat, and prospective customers.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on customer enquiries, orders, occasions, and potential purchases.
  • Monitor stock availability, merchandise movement, display standards, and product presentation.
  • Coordinate stock replenishment and inter-store transfers as required.
  • Ensure accurate inventory records and support regular stock audits.
  • Maintain proper handling, documentation, and security of high-value jewellery.
  • Identify fast-moving and slow-moving products and communicate relevant insights to management.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, retail processes, jewellery security, loss-prevention, and operational guidelines.
  • Monitor billing accuracy, documentation, daily reporting, and store opening and closing procedures.
  • Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly sales and performance reports.
  • Analyse product-category performance, conversion, team productivity, and target achievement.
  • Share performance insights and recommendations with the Store Manager.
  • Identify opportunities to improve departmental processes, customer experience, sales productivity, and operational efficiency.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 5+ years of experience in retail sales, store operations, or a similar customer-facing environment.
  • Strong experience in jewellery retail or organised retail is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Department Manager, Floor Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Team Leader, or similar retail leadership role will be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of jewellery products including gold, diamonds, platinum, and other precious jewellery categories.
  • Proven ability to achieve sales targets and improve departmental performance.
  • Strong understanding of retail KPIs including conversion rate, ABV, UPT, customer satisfaction, and team productivity.
  • Experience managing, motivating, coaching, and developing frontline sales teams.
  • Strong customer relationship-management skills, particularly with high-value and repeat customers.
  • Good understanding of inventory management, stock reconciliation, merchandise movement, and loss prevention.
  • Strong awareness of jewellery security, operational controls, and SOP compliance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and customer-handling skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a results-oriented approach.
  • High attention to detail, organisation, discipline, and process orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational execution.
  • Proficiency with POS, inventory management, and retail reporting systems.
  • Comfortable working in a target-driven and fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently manage a department while supporting overall store objectives.
  • Graduate degree or equivalent qualification is preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
