We are seeking a Mid to Senior-Level Electrical Engineer with strong commercial building design experience to join an established MEP engineering team in Fort Lauderdale. This position is ideal for an engineer with hands-on experience designing electrical systems for high-rise and complex commercial buildings and advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
The engineer will take ownership of electrical design and construction documentation for projects including high-rise offices, condominiums, hotels, municipal facilities, industrial buildings, airports, and other complex structures. You will work closely with other MEP disciplines to develop coordinated, code-compliant electrical systems from initial design through construction documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems for high-rise commercial buildings, condominiums, hotels, and other complex facilities.
- Develop and maintain electrical construction documents, drawings, layouts, details, and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Perform electrical calculations, load requirements, equipment selections, and system layouts.
- Apply applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering practices throughout the design process.
- Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify conflicts and maintain coordinated construction documents.
- Collaborate with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and other engineering disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
- Review drawings and project documentation for accuracy, constructability, and consistency prior to issuance.
- Assist with construction-phase questions, technical coordination, and design-related issues.
- Take ownership of assigned electrical design work and contribute to project delivery from design through construction documentation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of electrical engineering or building design experience, preferably within an MEP consulting environment.
- Proven experience designing electrical systems for high-rise buildings and/or complex commercial projects.
- Advanced proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience with commercial projects such as offices, condominiums, hotels, airports, industrial facilities, municipal buildings, or similar structures.
- Strong understanding of electrical building systems, applicable codes, and engineering design practices.
- Ability to interpret and coordinate architectural, structural, electrical, and other MEP construction documents.
- Demonstrated hands-on electrical design and documentation experience.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Local South Florida MEP consulting experience is strongly preferred.
- Residential-only electrical design experience will not be sufficient for this position.
