BB&E is an employee-owned full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.

Position Summary

BB&E is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Energy and Water Manager to provide on-site support for the Energy and Water Management Program (EWMP), including but not limited to, energy management and water conservation requirements located at NASA Glenn in Cleveland, Ohio, with a secondary facility in Sandusky, Ohio. This includes the overall coordination of the EWMP to ensure conformance to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) 50001 Ready Program and Agency and site-specific policies and procedures.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support an Energy and Water Performance Plan (EWPP) that meets Agency requirements for the EWPP, including development of Center/Component Facility E/W performance objectives, metrics, targets, measures, and milestones; monitoring, collecting, and analyzing E/W data; and development of strategies and methods to minimize EW consumption and reduce E/W intensity while complying with health, safety, and mission operations, and support Energy and Water Projects as requested by the Government
  • Perform building energy audits every four years to ensure compliance with energy efficiency standards. The audits shall meet the minimum requirements of the federal comprehensive energy and water evaluation (CEWE) requirements set by the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007
  • Attend Energy Exchange training offered through the Federal Energy Management Program or equivalent each year as designated by NASA
  • Prepare for and support the HQ functional reviews, including but not limited to programmatic compliance audits, institutional safety audits, and quality assurance audit reviews, and the Environmental and Energy Functional Review (EEFR) which will include tasks such as arranging and coordinating meetings, providing pre-assessment files and documents, completing the pre-visit questionnaire, and tracking findings to closure in the agency corrective action system. All EEFR findings and deficiencies must be tracked through closure

Requirements

Key Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal agency background check is required.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Software: Proficiency using MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Self-Starter: Highly motivated, with the ability to solve problems and function as a member of a team.

Experience & Education

  • Experience: Six (6) plus years of relevant experience in Environmental Compliance, water and energy conservation for NASA, Department of Defense or other Federal agencies is required.
  • Certification and Training: Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Hazardous Waste Management training, DOT Hazmat Employee training, and a minimum of 24 hours of OSHA HAZWOPER training
  • Education: A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or higher in data analyst, science, engineering, or in a related field is required.
