About Us

Caudal Energy is developing breakthrough tidal energy technology inspired by whale biomechanics and optimised for medium-flow, shallow-water sites. Backed by leading investors and Innovate UK, our highly efficient fin-driven generator system is progressing from prototype development towards commercial deployment. We are a growing engineering team building a predictable, scalable renewable power source.

About the Role

As Engineering Project Manager, you will establish and manage the supply-chain and project-delivery processes required to support a growing engineering organisation.

You will work across engineering, operations, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure critical components are sourced, ordered and delivered in line with programme requirements. In parallel, you will define and implement disciplined project-management processes that improve planning, communication, risk management and execution across multiple technical workstreams.

This is an ideal role for an organised and commercially minded engineer or project professional who enjoys coordinating people, suppliers and technical activities to achieve programme objectives.

Requirements

Supply Chain & Procurement

  • Manage procurement activities for prototype, development and production components; working with engineering teams to manage lead times, obsolescence risks and alternative sourcing strategies.
  • Raise purchase orders and manage supplier engagement from quotation through to delivery. Tracking orders and proactively expedite critical-path items to meet project schedules.
  • Develop supplier performance metrics and maintain supplier relationship management processes.
  • Support supplier selection, qualification and onboarding activities.

Technical Project Management

  • Define and implement project-management processes appropriate for a growing engineering organisation.
  • Develop project plans, schedules and action-tracking systems across multiple programmes.
  • Coordinate technical reviews, design reviews and cross-functional project meetings.
  • Maintain programme risk registers, dependency tracking and mitigation plans.
  • Support resource planning and prioritisation across engineering workstreams.

Subcontractor & External Partner Management

  • Coordinate technical activities delivered by subcontractors and external partners.
  • Monitor scope, milestones, deliverables and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure appropriate communication and reporting structures are maintained between internal and external teams.
  • Support factory acceptance testing, build activities and supplier visits where required.

Engineering Process Development

  • Help establish engineering governance, reporting and documentation standards.
  • Introduce disciplined project controls and communication practices across development activities.
  • Maintain project records, procurement documentation and supplier databases.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and operations.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in technical procurement, project coordination, supply chain management or technical project management.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Experience working with engineering drawings, specifications and bills of materials.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and technical teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using project planning and tracking tools.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of cost, quality and delivery trade-offs.

Desirable

  • Experience within renewable energy, marine, industrial equipment, manufacturing or electromechanical systems.
  • Formal project-management training or qualifications (APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
  • Experience implementing engineering or product-development processes.
  • Understanding of quality systems, supplier audits or supplier development activities.
  • Exposure to prototype development and low-volume manufacturing environments.

Benefits

  • Pension Plan
  • Paid Time Off - 25 days + public holidays (England)
  • Work From Home - flexible working policy
  • Training & Development
  • Start-up Culture

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
