Our school community is grounded in our core values of Love, Joy, Ownership, Purpose, and Reflection.

We are seeking an experienced, student-centered Contracted ESOL Teacher to join our Flight Crew as soon as possible for the 2026 - 2027 school year.

About the Role

The ESOL Teacher provides specialized English language instruction and academic support to identified English Learners in grades K - 5.

The teacher will provide direct services, monitor student language development and academic progress, collaborate with classroom teachers, maintain required ESOL documentation, support required assessments, and help ensure multilingual learners have meaningful access to grade-level instruction.

The ideal candidate understands language acquisition, values students' linguistic and cultural identities, and can provide targeted support while collaborating effectively with teachers, families, and the Student Support Team.

This is a contracted position and is not eligible for Sankofa Montessori employee benefits.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Differentiate instruction based on students' English language proficiency, academic needs, grade level, and individual strengths.
  • Provide services through appropriate instructional models, including small-group, push-in, pull-out, and collaborative instruction, based on student needs and the school's service model.
  • Develop engaging lessons that integrate English language development with grade-level academic content.
  • Support students' access to Sankofa's standards-aligned curriculum.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify appropriate scaffolds, accommodations, instructional strategies, and language supports.
  • Support teachers in understanding how language proficiency may affect students' classroom performance and access to academic content.
  • Regularly assess and monitor students' English language development and academic progress.
  • Use assessment and classroom data to adjust instruction and determine appropriate supports.
  • Administer and support required English language proficiency assessments, including WIDA Screener and ACCESS for ELLs, as applicable.
  • Maintain accurate and timely ESOL records, service documentation, assessment information, and required student records.
  • Ensure identified English Learners receive appropriate services and required documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Participate in student support, MTSS, special education, and other meetings when language acquisition is relevant to a student's needs.
  • Collaborate with the Student Support Team to help distinguish language acquisition needs from potential academic, behavioral, or disability-related concerns.
  • Communicate with families regarding students' language development, academic progress, strengths, and areas for continued growth.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment that honors students' home languages, cultures, identities, and experiences.
  • Demonstrate Sankofa Montessori's core values of Love, Joy, Ownership, Purpose, and Reflection.

The existing position similarly emphasizes differentiated curriculum, individualized instruction, progress monitoring, and collaboration with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other stakeholders.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
