Join us at Karo Healthcare on our exciting journey. We're currently looking for a Financial Controller Poland for our office in Warsaw.
What’s in it for you?
Own the numbers. Shape the set-up. Make an impact.
End-to-end ownership of the Polish legal entity, with a broad scope across accounting, tax, VAT, statutory reporting and compliance.
Build something, not just maintain it — lead the transition of accounting in-house and help establish scalable finance processes in Poland.
International exposure — work closely with colleagues across Poland, Germany, Lithuania and the wider Karo Healthcare organisation.
Real development opportunities in a growing international consumer healthcare business where taking initiative is encouraged.
What you’ll be doing
- Take end-to-end ownership of the month-end, quarter-end and annual close for the Polish entity, partnering closely with our Finance Centre of Excellence.
- Own the P&L and balance sheet review, including fluctuation analysis, reconciliations and follow-up across the full scope of accounts and transactions.
- Prepare and file statutory financial statements under the Polish Accounting Act and maintain the bridge to IFRS group reporting.
- Own Polish tax and VAT compliance, including CIT, VAT-UE, JPK_V7, KSeF administration and withholding tax.
- Lead statutory, tax and VAT audits from start to finish, acting as the key finance contact for auditors and authorities.
- Lead the transition of accounting from the external provider to our Finance Centre of Excellence, covering process mapping, handover, opening balances, registrations, dual-run and cut-over.
- Review transfer pricing documentation and support intercompany settlements.
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the Centre of Excellence and prepare country-specific reconciliations.
- Own the fixed asset register and payment approvals, ensuring strong financial control.
- Oversee payroll-related settlements delivered by the external payroll provider and act as the local finance touchpoint for HR payroll topics.
- Own statutory and statistical reporting to KRS, CRBR, GUS and NBP.
- Strengthen internal controls, financial governance and risk mitigation across the Polish entity.
- Partner with Business Controllers, Financial Control Leads and stakeholders across the international finance organisation.
- Drive continuous improvement and make accounting and reporting processes more efficient, scalable and fit for growth.
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in financial control or accounting, including full ownership of statutory reporting for Polish legal entities.
- Strong, hands-on expertise in Polish tax and VAT, with the confidence to manage complex topics directly rather than simply relying on external advisors.
- Proven experience leading statutory audits end to end.
- Strong knowledge of the Polish Accounting Act, statutory reporting and Polish tax legislation.
- Practical experience with KSeF and awareness of upcoming JPK_CIT requirements.
- Solid understanding of IFRS and confidence navigating complex accounting topics independently.
- Experience with an accounting insourcing, outsourcing or ERP migration is a strong advantage.
- Good understanding of end-to-end finance processes, including Record to Report, Order to Cash and Purchase to Pay.
- Experience working with integrated ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, risk mitigation and statutory compliance.
- Fluent Polish and English, both written and spoken.
- Polish accounting certification (e.g. SKwP/certyfikat księgowy) or ACCA is an advantage.
- Experience working with a Shared Service Centre or Centre of Excellence is a plus.
- Experience from FMCG, consumer healthcare, retail or another fast-paced international environment is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with excellent attention to detail.
- Hands-on and pragmatic approach — comfortable working in the detail, taking ownership and getting things done.
- Collaborative mindset and confidence working across functions, countries and cultures.
- High level of integrity, accountability and sound judgement in a complex and changing environment.
Benefits
- Opportunity to create, grow and encourage.
- Competitive salary package with genuine opportunities for personal and professional development.
- Flexible working arrangements and a strong commitment to work-life balance.
- Responsibility for exciting, challenging projects with a direct and visible impact on our customers and business.
- A very positive working environment within a young, international and motivated team.
- The start-up spirit of a growing business combined with the scale, resources and stability of a larger international organisation with strong values.
