About the Role (your why)

The General Manager - Propositions is responsible for developing and implementing strategy and business plans for IT Outsourcing (ITO) with the broader Datacom direction. The role will oversee daily business activities within functional area, including working alongside colleagues for sales and customer success improving overall business functions, in particular this role is responsible for the development of the overall value proposition we take to market.

This role will oversee the development and launch of new products and propositions in alignment with the business strategy.

This role will be offered as a fixed term contract until the end of March.

Our offices are based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/ life balance. What you’ll do

The General Manager - Propositions is responsible for (but not limited to):

Owning the development and implementation of strategy for ITO, in line with broader Datacom strategy, in particular this role will be responsible for Propositions, including but not limited to:

  • Identifying and analysing customer needs, market trends, and competitive offerings to develop innovative and profitable propositions that meet the needs of the target market.
  • Aligning the performance, growth, proposition development, and financial sustainability of the proposition portfolio tightly with peers to execute Datacom’s product strategy and roadmaps
  • Leading the development and implementation of product propositions aligned with business goals, customer needs, and market trends for IT Outsourcing
  • Conducting market research and analyse customer feedback to identify product opportunities, customer needs, and market gaps
  • Develop value propositions, product features, and benefits that differentiate the product in the market
  • Product positioning to drive sales and market share
  • Create collateral, tender responses, technology requirements with the wider business teams.

In addition the role will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.
  • Planning, personnel, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.
  • Involved in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and strategy.
  • Directing and controlling the activities of own area of business, sometimes through managers within the team.
  • Supporting Sales, Presales and Technical teams across Datacom ensuring an approach focused on growth and mutual benefit between Datacom and our customers.
  • Managing the relationships with (and between) external agencies and suppliers, ensuring contracts and service levels are negotiated in line with strategic aims and financial constraints and ongoing service is in-line with agreed contracts.
  • Making final decisions on administrative or operational matters, ensuring effective achievement of operational objectives.
  • Ensuring budgets and schedules meet requirements.

What you’ll bring

  • Market research and analysis: The ability to conduct market research and analyse data to identify customer needs, market trends, and gaps for ITO
  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of Product/Proposition frameworks and concepts.
  • Understanding the ITO target customer and their needs is crucial for developing successful product propositions. A seasoned Propositions Manager should be skilled in customer segmentation, profiling, and personas development, and have a deep understanding of customer motivations and behaviours
  • Strong strategic background, with an ability to grasp the big picture.
  • Proven experience in developing and launching successful Customer led propositions
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Deep understanding of marketing and customer insights
  • Experience in financial modelling and analysis
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful market propositions throughout its lifecycle.
  • Ability to manage issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organisational objectives.
  • Experience in developing and launching successful product propositions from concept to launch.
  • Understanding of the product development process, be familiar with product management tools and methodologies, and have experience working with cross-functional teams such as engineering, design, and marketing.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), flexibility, team focus and dedication to customer service.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding budgeted sales and profit objectives.
  • Personable, conscientious, ability to cope with pressure and to prioritise work.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Ability to frequently interact with a variety of stakeholders and team members, normally involving matters between functional areas, other Datacom divisions, customers and the company.
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to convey technical information across various levels.
  • Ability to build and lead an effective team.
