At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in San Carlos, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in San Carlos, CA

Details:

  • In-Person Tutoring in San Carlos, CA
  • Schedule: 15 Hours per month, 2x a week for 1.25hr sessions
  • Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

  • Fluent in Japanese and English required
  • Experience tutoring or supporting elementary-age students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Experience working with students with speech delays and/or limited English proficiency
  • Strong background in foundational literacy, phonics, sight words, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and early writing
  • Comfortable supporting early elementary-level math skills
  • Able to provide language and communication support for a student who primarily understands Japanese
  • Patient, bubbly, energetic, and engaging personality
  • Skilled at using visual, hands-on, and interactive learning strategies
  • Comfortable providing repetition, modeling, prompting, and positive reinforcement
  • Able to adjust instruction to the student's developmental and academic level
  • Experience supporting students with mild frustration-related behaviors is preferred
  • Strong ability to build rapport and create a fun, encouraging learning environment
  • Comfortable incorporating the student's interests, including Minecraft and LEGO, into lessons

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized academic and language support across ELA, communication, and foundational math
  • Teach phonics, letter-sound relationships, sight words, decoding, and early reading skills
  • Support reading comprehension and vocabulary development through leveled and engaging texts
  • Develop early writing skills, including handwriting, sentence formation, and written expression
  • Provide foundational math instruction appropriate to the student's current instructional level
  • Use Japanese to support comprehension, clarify instructions, and reinforce academic concepts when needed
  • Support English language development and communication skills through structured conversation and interactive activities
  • Provide repetition, modeling, visual supports, and hands-on activities to reinforce learning
  • Use positive reinforcement and engaging activities to maintain attention and motivation
  • Provide calm and supportive redirection when mild frustration-related behaviors occur
  • Incorporate Minecraft, LEGO, and other student interests into lessons to increase engagement
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on the student's academic, communication, and language needs
  • Build confidence and encourage active participation through a patient, positive, and engaging approach
