Are you an experienced Legal Assistant with U.S. personal injury experience looking for the opportunity to work remotely with a growing U.S. legal organization?
briefCASE Legal Support, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to provide legal support to DJC Law, PLLC, a growing Texas-based personal injury law firm. As an independent contractor with briefCASE, you’ll work directly with U.S.-based attorneys and clients, manage meaningful casework, and play an important role in moving personal injury cases from pre-litigation through settlement.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is confident working independently, enjoys client interaction, and wants to continue building their experience in U.S. personal injury law while supporting the attorneys and clients of DJC Law.
What You'll Do
- Support Clients: Serve as a key point of contact, provide case updates, answer general questions, coordinate appointments, and maintain professional and compassionate communication.
- Manage Cases: Open and maintain client files in Filevine or similar case management software, track deadlines and case activity, and help keep matters moving forward.
- Coordinate Medical Records: Obtain, organize, and summarize medical records, bills, accident reports, and other case documentation.
- Prepare Case Materials: Draft correspondence, discovery requests and responses, and basic legal documents under attorney or case manager supervision.
- Support Settlement Preparation: Assist with settlement demand packages and communicate with insurance adjusters as needed.
- Coordinate Litigation Activities: Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and other case-related events and maintain accurate calendars.
- Collaborate With the Legal Team: Work with attorneys, case managers, legal assistants, and investigators to support the progression of cases.
- Assist Where Needed: Provide support with intake, records retrieval, and other case-related responsibilities.

Requirements
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Previous experience working for a U.S.-based personal injury law firm.
- Hands-on pre-litigation personal injury experience, including case management, client communication, and obtaining medical records and bills.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
- Familiarity with the U.S. personal injury litigation process, including discovery, pleadings, court filings, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or in a comparable personal injury case support role.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive client information.
- Experience with any legal case management system.
- Familiarity with medical records, medical billing, insurance claims, and settlement demands.
- Experience preparing settlement demand packages and communicating with insurance adjusters.

Compensation
$10.00–$12.00 USD per hour
