briefCASE Legal Support, LLC is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support the attorneys and clients of DJC Law, PLLC, a growing Texas-based personal injury law firm. In this role, you’ll work directly with U.S.-based attorneys, case managers, and clients while supporting personal injury cases throughout the litigation process.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful legal work, expand your knowledge of U.S. personal injury law, and become an important part of the legal support operation behind a busy personal injury practice.
As a remote independent contractor, you’ll support cases from discovery and court filings through depositions, settlement, and trial preparation, while also drawing on your pre-litigation experience to understand the full lifecycle of a personal injury case.

What You'll Do
Litigation Support
- Support attorneys and case managers throughout the personal injury litigation process.
- Prepare, draft, and organize pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, correspondence, and other litigation documents under appropriate supervision.
- Coordinate discovery, track responses, organize supporting documentation, and follow up on outstanding items.
- Monitor and calendar court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial dates.
- Assist with court filings and ensure documents are prepared accurately and submitted on time.
- Organize evidence, medical records, discovery materials, exhibits, witness information, and other case materials.
- Assist with deposition and trial preparation.
- Maintain organized electronic case files so critical information is accurate and readily accessible.
Pre-Litigation Support
- Apply your understanding of the pre-litigation personal injury process and how cases develop toward settlement or litigation.
- Review and organize medical records, medical bills, accident reports, and other supporting documentation.
- Assist with settlement demand packages and related case materials.
- Maintain familiarity with insurance claims, medical treatment documentation, and case development.
- Help organize case materials when matters transition from pre-litigation to litigation.
Client Communication
- Serve as a professional point of contact for clients regarding case updates, scheduling, documentation, and general questions.
- Maintain consistent, responsive, and compassionate communication.
- Obtain information and documentation needed to move cases forward.
- Handle confidential client information with discretion and professionalism.
Case Management & Team Support
- Open, organize, and maintain client files in Filevine or similar case management software.
- Maintain accurate case notes, documents, tasks, and deadlines.
- Schedule client meetings, depositions, mediations, and other case-related appointments.
- Collaborate with attorneys, case managers, legal assistants, and investigators.
- Assist with records retrieval, intake-related tasks, and other case support as needed.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
Required
- Previous experience working for a U.S.-based personal injury law firm.
- Hands-on personal injury litigation experience, including discovery, pleadings, court filings, litigation deadlines, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Previous pre-litigation personal injury experience, including medical records, medical bills, insurance claims, settlement demands, and case development.
- Experience as a Legal Assistant, Litigation Legal Assistant, Litigation Paralegal, or in a comparable personal injury litigation support role.
- Strong understanding of the personal injury case lifecycle from pre-litigation through litigation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with legal case management software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently while staying connected and responsive to a U.S.-based legal team.
Preferred
- Filevine experience.
- Experience supporting attorneys with a substantial personal injury litigation caseload.
- Experience preparing discovery, organizing deposition materials, and assisting with trial preparation.
- Familiarity with Texas personal injury litigation procedures and court requirements.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

Compensation
$27,600–$30,000 USD annually
