Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dependable Live-In Caregiver to provide high-quality in-home care and companionship to an older adult in the Palm Springs, California area.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience caring for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease and understand the importance of patience, consistency, safety, dignity, and compassionate communication when supporting someone experiencing memory loss or cognitive changes.
This is a live-in position with two scheduled days off each week. The caregiver will have a private living space within the home and designated off-duty time in accordance with the agreed-upon schedule and applicable California employment requirements.

The successful candidate will understand that dementia care requires consistency, empathy, patience, and the ability to respond calmly to changing behaviors and needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, respectful, and attentive care to the client.
- Provide supervision and support appropriate for an individual living with dementia.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility as needed.
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Provide medication reminders and support with established medication routines, within the caregiver's lawful scope of duties.
- Assist with safe ambulation and transfers as appropriate.
- Provide companionship and meaningful social engagement.
- Encourage appropriate cognitive, recreational, and daily activities.
- Maintain a calm, safe, and structured environment.
- Monitor changes in behavior, mood, appetite, mobility, or overall condition and communicate concerns to the appropriate family member or supervisor.
- Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, linen changes, and maintaining an organized living environment related to the client's care.
- Accompany the client to appointments, activities, errands, or other outings when required.
- Follow established care plans, routines, safety procedures, and family instructions.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the client's privacy and dignity at all times.
- Communicate professionally and consistently with family members and other members of the care team.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of professional caregiving experience preferred.
- Previous hands-on experience caring for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease is required.
- Strong understanding of dementia-related behaviors, memory loss, confusion, and changes in cognition.
- Demonstrated patience, compassion, and ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Experience assisting with activities of daily living, personal care, mobility, meals, and companionship.
- Ability to recognize and appropriately report changes in the client's condition or behavior.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, trustworthy, and able to maintain professional boundaries.
- Ability to work independently while following an established care plan.
- Ability to pass applicable background and reference checks.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification required.
Schedule
- Live-in, full-time position
- 5 days on / 2 consecutive days off
- Specific working hours and required off-duty periods will be established in accordance with the client's care needs and applicable California law.
