We are looking for an experienced Patching & Vulnerability Management Specialist to strengthen enterprise security by identifying, prioritising, remediating, and continuously monitoring vulnerabilities across Linux and Windows environments.
The role requires strong hands-on expertise in patch management, vulnerability assessment, remediation, Linux/Windows administration, PowerShell, and Shell scripting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across infrastructure and security teams to reduce exposure, maintain secure systems, and ensure timely remediation of vulnerabilities in production environments.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete patching and vulnerability-management lifecycle across enterprise IT infrastructure.
- Identify, assess, prioritise, and track vulnerabilities across Linux and Windows servers and systems.
- Analyse vulnerability scan results and determine appropriate remediation actions based on severity, exploitability, asset criticality, and business impact.
- Develop and execute regular security patching schedules for operating systems and infrastructure components.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and application teams to plan and implement patches within agreed maintenance windows.
- Perform pre-patch assessments, dependency checks, implementation, and post-patch validation.
- Monitor patch compliance and ensure critical and high-severity vulnerabilities are remediated within defined SLAs.
- Investigate failed or incomplete patch deployments and coordinate corrective actions.
- Use PowerShell and Shell scripting to automate patching, validation, reporting, system checks, and repetitive operational tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of vulnerabilities, remediation status, patch compliance, exceptions, and risk acceptance.
- Generate vulnerability and patch-compliance reports for technical and management stakeholders.
- Support vulnerability remediation across physical, virtual, cloud, and other infrastructure environments where applicable.
- Identify recurring vulnerabilities and recommend process or configuration improvements to prevent reoccurrence.
- Work with security teams to support vulnerability assessments, security audits, compliance requirements, and remediation programs.
- Validate that security patches have been successfully installed and systems remain stable after remediation.
- Support emergency patching activities for actively exploited or critical vulnerabilities.
- Manage patching exceptions and coordinate appropriate risk mitigation or compensating controls.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, patching procedures, runbooks, and remediation guidelines.
- Continuously improve vulnerability-management and patching processes through automation and standardisation.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 4+ years of professional experience in patch management, vulnerability management, system administration, infrastructure security, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience managing Windows and Linux environments.
- Proven expertise in patching and vulnerability remediation across enterprise infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of vulnerability assessment, severity classification, remediation prioritisation, and security SLAs.
- Experience analysing vulnerability scanner outputs and coordinating remediation across technical teams.
- Strong proficiency in PowerShell and Shell scripting for automation and system administration.
- Good understanding of Windows Server, Linux administration, operating-system security, and patch dependencies.
- Experience with patch-management and vulnerability-management tools or enterprise security platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate failed patches and complex remediation issues.
- Experience creating patch-compliance dashboards, vulnerability reports, and management-level status reports.
- Understanding of security hardening, configuration management, endpoint/server security, and infrastructure best practices.
- Strong knowledge of change-management processes, maintenance windows, testing, rollback, and production deployment practices.
- Ability to work effectively with Security, Infrastructure, Cloud, Application, and Operations teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple vulnerabilities, remediation activities, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proactive mindset with a strong focus on security, automation, compliance, and continuous improvement.
